Reflection via @thepassionists Betrayal April 16, 2019 Suppose you were an unseen guest at the Last Supper. There had to be tension in the air. What did Jesus mean by saying one of them would betray him? How could he think such a thing? These were his loyal friends. Peter missed the hint when Jesus gave a piece of bread to Judas. When Judas left the table they thought Jesus sent him out on business. What was Jesus talking about, being glorified? and when he told them they could not go with him to where he was going? Peter must have been stunned when Jesus cut short his boasting by predicting his denial. What’s going on here? There is in each of us the possibility of a Judas; and of a Peter. For all our protestations of loyalty ’I will lay down my life for you,’ Peter failed when put to the test. Whatever his motivation Judas was determined to strike a deal with the enemies of Jesus. Can we think on this? Could we ever be a Peter or a Judas to another of our friends or relations? How would we treat a friend who turned out to be a Peter or a Judas to us? Fr. #repost via Passionist Father @paul_wierichs Judas sold out Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. What little ways have you sold out Jesus for your own 30 pieces of silver? #Catholic #CatholicTo #Toronto #Jesus #Judas #God #HolyWeek #silver #30piecesofsilver #betrayal #friendship #LentTo #PassionofChrist #BeAPassionist #Passionists #Apostles
