Good morning to you all on this Tuesday of the Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time!

The mother of Jesus and his brothers came to him but were unable to join him because of the crowd. He was told, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside and they wish to see you.” He said to them in reply, “My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”

A blessed Tuesday of the Sixteenth Week in Ordinary Time!

Gospel MT 12:46-50

While Jesus was speaking to the crowds, his mother and his brothers appeared outside, wishing to speak with him. Someone told him, “Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, asking to speak with you.” But he said in reply to the one who told him, “Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?” And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, “Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother.”

God bless you all on this Thirteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time!

Gospel MT 10:37-42

Jesus said to his apostles: “Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me; and whoever does not take up his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me. Whoever finds his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

"Whoever receives you receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me. Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and whoever receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man’s reward. And whoever gives only a cup of cold water to one of these little ones to drink because the little one is a disciple— amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward.”

God bless you all on this Tuesday of the Third Week in Ordinary Time!

Gospel MK 3:31-35

The mother of Jesus and his brothers arrived at the house. Standing outside, they sent word to Jesus and called him. A crowd seated around him told him, "Your mother and your brothers and your sisters are outside asking for you." But he said to them in reply, "Who are my mother and my brothers?" And looking around at those seated in the circle he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers. For whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother."

Remain faithful Reflection for November 13, 2018 via @thepassionists  This short saying of Jesus can catch us by surprise. He asks why a master should thank his servant for doing what a servant is expected to do. Think on this; A mother who spends a sleepless night caring for a feverous child she has done only what she ought to have done. When a father goes to work every day, no matter what form that work may be, to support his wife and children he too is doing  what he ought to do. When a spouse of a vowed religious has lived life faithful to their vows they have done only what they are expected to do. St. Paul asks the question, ‘What have you that you have not received and if you have received it, why do you carry on as if you had not received it?’ By God’s grace /gift we are blessed with the ability to be faithful to whatever we are, whoever we are. May we always be grateful for such a gift. Fr. A blessed Thursday of the Twenty-ninth Week in Ordinary Time to you all!

Jesus said to his disciples: "I have come to set the earth on fire, and how I wish it were already blazing! There is a baptism with which I must be baptized, and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished! Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division. From now on a household of five will be divided, three against two and two against three; a father will be divided against his son and a son against his father, a mother against her daughter and a daughter against her mother, a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."
