Love to Recite the Rosary

St. Therese said that each HAIL MARY goes up toward Heaven like incense whose smoking spirals are all alike, although it is always new incense that burns.  Love always says the same thing, yet never repeats itself.

From “I Believe in Love,” Father Jean C.J. d’Elbee

From Sarah Reinhard: “Most Catholics can recite the Hail Mary but haven’t actually reflected on the meaning of the prayer. I invited forty of the most popular Catholic voices, including Lisa M. Hendey, Lisa Mladinich, and Brandon Vogt, to write a brief reflection on one word of the Hail Mary.

You can find the original blog series, Looking Closer at the Hail Mary, at my blog. The book includes most of these reflections. They’ve been edited and also enhanced with prayer prompts.

The book is arranged so that it will enhance your prayer time and hopefully draw you closer to Mary and her Son through this classic prayer.”

Hail Mary, full of sorrow, The Crucified is with you, sorrowful are you amongst women And sorrowful is the fruit of your womb Jesus. Holy Mary, mother of the Crucified, Obtain tears for us, Crucifiers of your Son, Now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Hail Mary of Our Lady of Sorrows, composed by Saint Bonaventure of Bagnoreggio. Translated from Latin by Fr Alfredo Pallotta, c.p. (via tota-pulchraesmaria)

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

O man, whoever thou art, understand that in this world thou art tossed about in a stormy and tempestuous sea, rather than walking on solid ground; remember that if thou wouldst avoid being drowned, thou must never turn thine eyes from the brightness of this star, but keep them fixed on it and call on Mary. In dangers, in straits, in doubts, remember Mary, invoke Mary.

St. Bernard of Clairvaux (via catholicsoul)
