Everything felt better when we were kids because it WAS, the quality of processed foods, clothing, shoes, has drastically decreased in the last couple decades. Companies putting profit at the cost of quality/safety of consumers is making people ill, and destroying experiences. I distinctly remember fast food tasting better, because companies switched to cheaper ingredients while raising prices. We are paying more for less constantly, in virtually every area of life.
There is such a beautiful harmony when you’re able to create space for yourself in your own life. Somehow the universe yields when you do. Allowing yourself to accept the things that happen are always going to lead into infinite possibilities. You can take it slowly, there is no rush, no race, you can live many lives in your lifetime, it’s all in your head. Every day is a new day.
Reading through the reddit sub r/regretfulparents is so gut wrenching and eye opening. Being a woman means your true intuitive feelings about being averse to having children are constantly being ridiculed and invalidated. You have to go through childhood and adulthood with the same condescending rhetoric being pushed at you. You wont really know until you’re older. You will change your mind. All these opinions being presented as absolute truths. It wholly contributes to so many women believing and convincing themselves they have no choice, it’s inevitable. If women were to give up the notion that they are some vessels of infinite strength and selflessness, not divine beings capable of withstanding suffering beyond measure, we could reach the place where so many don’t lose their lives and identity to birth new life. It is heart breaking for a child to fully realize just how much of her own self a mother loses, especially when partnered with an unloving, selfish partner. How much your life is not yours anymore, if you truly need to sacrifice so much because you didn’t fully understand what being a parent costs.
The American military has been building for decades, murdering and raping the world. They are more than prepared for civil riots, and WILL use excessive force to subdue protesters. Please be careful, wear masks and CONCEAL YOUR IDENTITY ABOVE ALL. They will start tracing protesters. Ferguson protesters pictured in iconic images were found MURDERED. This is not a coincidence. Please stay safe.
Man I dont want to sound morbid but ppl rly out here as adults like oh yes life absolutely sucks reality is terrifying or absolutely mundane but dont kill yrself!! (Either as religious guilt tripping or false chirpy advertising) no ironic but like everyones just out here... acting like having mental illness isnt going to be a natural result of our circumstances... we cant actually destigmatize mental illness without realising its a consequence of our societal structure under capitalism
on instagram beauty culture: if you’re a teenager or even just in your early-mid twenties and all you see on instagram is an exaggerated hourglass figure, an assortment of waist trainers, supplements and skinny teas- I’m pleading with you- don’t buy into it. There is so much that goes into these pictures, from 3-5 different editing apps on par with photoshop, actual photoshop!! by professionals!!, and a most of the time- cosmetic surgery. Most of the girls do not just naturally have the body they are using to sell products, girls selling skinny teas are usually naturally skinny, girls who have the absolute perfect proportions usually spend a decent amount of time editing and modifying them on multiple apps, you are not an anomaly! Your body is not disproportionate or ugly or anything remotely close just because it doesn’t look like theirs! Your body isn’t wrong or too thin or too fat or too wobbly or bony, you are fine I promise you, there are things to worry about and your body should not be the main thing that is stressing you out. Trust me, you’re okay. If you’re healthy, if your body is doing what it needs to do- working and working for you, you’re doing fine. Don’t punish yourself or your body by starving yourself or overeating, or believing that the products being sold on these scam sites are worth spending your money on. Skinny teas are essentially laxatives, and can ruin your digestive system and give you diarrhea, dehydration and cause permanent damage. Waist trainers will make you uncomfortable and suffocate your organs, while making no actual changes in the long run except for the worst. They are modern day corsets, and not in a romantic way- in a painful, choking, organ-damage way. Please be careful.
Do you think suicide is a selfish act?
Please respond yes or no, and if you like give me an explanation. I’m writing an article about 27-year-old nutritionist Tara Condell who took her own life after writing this note (only partially given here) on her website:
“It’s the ultimate first world problem, I get it. I often felt detached while in a room full of my favorite people; I also felt absolutely nothing during what should have been the happiest and darkest times in my life. No single conversation or situation has led me to make this decision, so at what point do you metaphorically pull the trigger?“
The trouble with American complacency is that the rest of the world has to deal with the consequences.
Make sure you’re turning your screen off early enough and sleeping. One hour before you plan to sleep. Just be outside of the digital space. Keeps your skin & generally your body happier.
Sleep deprivation makes your body produce cortisol, a hormone that can lead to inflammation. Keep yourselves hydrated and healthy, and you can feel slightly more like a person!
I never considered immigration a personal matter until I felt myself in a situation where I realised I have never *not* been an immigrant. Like the place I was born & raised doesnt offer citizenship to anyone so you are just an immigrant. But culturally, having few connections to any of the people from my motherland is isolating. Being both a second & first generation immigrant simulataneously can be overwhelming.
Eldest immigrant child guilt is my favourite phrase, it relieved so much of the pressure I internalized trying to find my place when moving to a whole new city.

of course when flagging posts, @staff fails to actually target porn and goes after my 14 year old edits of Grant Gustin from Glee
“Climate change”- a conservative political term for GLOBAL WARMING has always been real & is a long time coming. Of course there is a rise in conservative support; wealthy ppl will prepare for armageddon together as they can spare the resources to do so. Everyone else? Doesn’t matter to them.
ladies what insecurities we feeding today by lurking too hard on the gram?
If this life isn’t a test then God knows what is??
I find myself in varying states of cognitive dissonance with all of the heavy ugly news, whether it is climate change deniers, sexual abuse deniers, or simply those caught up in protecting their own positions of power protecting abusers. This is the reality of the female experience, it is why the second wave movement gained traction- women are tired. Women have always been tired. Fighting against a system that so strategically aims to demolish your resolve is tedious, these are the ugly days; mental weariness, a sense of reduced hope. But this is the negativity.
We are speaking, we are loud, we are providing financial assistance to the women who would have kept their secrets in silence before. There is so much joy to be taken from this situation. Joy for the women who can speak, who can come up and tell their truth- even if they are not believed by any man or woman in the room, they can speak. We can listen. Bearing witness to the strength of women is inspiring- you make me want to be strong, to be brave, for everything you have been though, you are here.
We are here. We will always be here. Ready for the revolution- whether it is a digital one; of speaking abusers names, of giving testimony, of simply doing the work you want to and getting into positions of power, so you can be the person making the decisions. You are powerful.
We are together in this. All women, like it or not. This is a matter of how we are perceived, how we are classified. Every single day girls and women worldwide break through these limited definitions men come up with. Every single day you prove yourself to be better than they thought you could be. Just your being, your state of unease with our world, your state of intuition telling you there is something wrong, there is work to be done, there is a way you can change this world for the better, every day you wake up in these states of unrest is a good one, because you know better. Speak your truths, loudly, let everyone know. We are getting educated, we are getting power.
