So my work Christmas party is at a hotel that’s about a 30-40 minute drive from my work, and my work is about a 40-50 minute drive from my home

This means that I’m going to have to book a hotel room, either near where the party is located (which is a really expensive town, like there’s not a hotel room for less than £200 for a single night) or I book a hotel room closer to work and either have to try to get a cab to the party (probably £30 - £40+ each way) or hope that one of my coworkers is planning on driving and have space in their car.

Either way it’s a lot of money that I don’t really want to be spending

I just had someone tell me at work that they needed a new stamp because it had ‘stopped working’ and when I questioned whether they had refilled the ink or replaced the ink tray (it’s one of those self inking stamps that you just press down on) they looked at me blankly

Turns out that this man had been, somewhat regularly, throwing out £30-£40 stamps whenever they ran out of ink.

I mean when this event was announced it was kind of obvious that the teams wouldn’t be bringing the actual cars.

Main reasons being, the logistical nightmare of either having to bring a fully assembled F1 car into London (or a team of mechanics to assemble said car in the back of the O2)

Then there’s also the fact that teams won’t want the other teams around their assembled car before the start of preseason testing.

The liveries will likely be shown on ‘show cars’ similar to how they are in the typical livery reveals that teams do themselves.

That Williams thing seems to be mostly exaggeration (source)

According to what Vowles says, it seems to be more that they will have to go back to some older specs for some parts than they won't be able to have cars at all despite what the article says.

Essentially teams like Aston Martin, Alpine, Williams, etc aren’t happy that whilst they design and manufacture most of their parts in house, Haas just buys them from Ferrari (and VCARB are planning on doing this with Red Bull to a greater degree from 2026)

As a result the above mentioned teams are demanding that a greater proportion of Haas’ parts are manufactured in house (Haas should have to do it themselves rather than buying from Ferrari)

But as of right now they don’t have the means to implement this, so with this potential rule change, if Haas were to finish P5 in the constructors this year, within 3 years of that P5 finish, they would need to be making all TRCs (Transferable Components) on their own.

TRCs include things like:

Rear impact structure

Gearbox

Clutch

Front/Rear suspension

Steering assembly

Hydraulic system

To be honest I think them mandating that teams have to run their own gearbox design might be a step too far (I don’t know) but I think things like crash structures, suspension, hydraulics and cooling should be designed by the teams, it is a constructors championship at the end of the day.

The amount of F1 Live tickets that are already on resale sites is insane

This is from Viagogo.

I’m sorry spending £50 to go to something that is going to be streamed was too steep for me, let alone £200 or £1198

What tracks do we no longer have that you really wanna see come back, and which ones would you trade out for them if possible?

I’d love for Istanbul Park (Turkey) to come back it’s a great track, it’s random appearance in covid times was chaotic but it’s such a well designed circuit.

On a similar note (and one you’ll be well aware of my thoughts of if you’ve been following me for a while) is Sepang circuit in Malaysia, this is probably one of my favourite tracks of all time, the track design, the conditions, the whole vibes are just incredible, but it’s unlikely to come back, but I highly recommend watching old races from there.

I quite like the Nurburgring in Germany as well, I’d love it if they were able to bring this back as a one off or a rotational European GP again but I think that’s not financially viable.

In terms of tracks that I’d be happy to lose, Imola, Miami, Saudi Arabia and maybe Las Vegas but I’ll give it one more year before I establish my opinion

This is the guy who reported that Mohammed Ben Sulayem interfered with the overturning of Alonso’s 10 second penalty in Saudi Arabia, and also that MBS tried to tell FIA officials to find a way to not pass the circuit as safe for racing.

I honestly think that this firing and the firing of Wittich are related in some way, potentially MBS trying to get rid of those who he believes are acting against him.

Within the past 12 months, the FIA have lost at least 8 high ranking personnel (and that’s just the ones that have been reported) I don’t want to speculate too much but the majority being firings and people quitting (rather than retirement) isn’t the best look

Quick rundown on how to deal with F1 info coming from random tumblr users

  • Check twitter for usual trusted sources : Chris Medland, Andrew Benson, official F1 accounts, Motorsport.com, etc.

If none of them mentioned anything it's usually bullshit already, but we like to do things well so

  • Check Google for the source of the info
  • Check what sources have written on this : are they the usual sources (F1, skysports, planetf1, motorsportmagazine, the race, ...) or like. the mirror and some random website you've never heard of before?
  • Then read the fucking article and check if what is being shared on tumblr is actual quotes by a real F1-related person or if it's the journalist's interpretation of things
  • To be thorough check another source reporting on this and check whether what this source is saying matches what the first source is saying and whether the quotes match or not

Congrats you've done critical thinking 💕
