destiel is a story of need and want and not understanding that they can be two different words to express the exact same feeling
dean doesn't let himself want anything, that would be selfish, so he expresses a need. cas doesn't need anything, he's self sufficient and above human necessities, so he expresses a want. what they are both feeling is love, and love is both a need and a want. it's desire, which is a longing so strong it becomes a necessity. they are talking about the same thing.
