I saw a post about 'european christmas monsters' and wanted to add a few pictures

These are so called Perchten, an alpine tradition that has pagan roots, and is still a strong going tradition in Austria. This was a calmer Perchtenlauf, but there are alao quite violent ones. Also, they are not the Krampus, this is something else entirely!

Annual reminder that all the 'Krampus parades' posted from Austria these days are Perchten, not Krampus! Very different things!

Perchten are there to drive away evil spirits!
