A video game cutscene saved my life and it was the funniest thing to happen today
So in Watch Dogs you can hack into people’s bank accounts and take their money from an ATM. Usually you approach, hit whatever button, and it goes into a short cut scene where you withdraw cash.
In Watch Dogs, you can also hack other online users. You end up “invading” their world, you try to hack their data, and if you get spotted, you have to try and escape before they kill you.
So I’m waltzing around and I go to withdraw some cash and just as the cut scene starts, I see this car fly out of nowhere, run over some civilians, and drive away like a mad man on the sidewalk.
I think “wow! These AI are really nuts! I wonder if there’s another car chasing them or if there’s a crime going on” because it’s not uncommon for AI in the game to actually get into accidents themselves. And I’m also thinking “man, the cut scene saved my life”
BUT THEN THE [You are being invaded] POPPED UP ON MY SCREEN
And I sit there quietly for a moment before realization hit and I just “OH YOU FUCKER. YOU TRIED TO RUN ME OVER”
