Hey There Quin…..Now I’m not sure if it’s the Caffeine kick I but I came up with this amazing idea on my way to work yesterday. 🙌🏽 to increase the Lore of my OC, I immediately thought to myself “What if Sel and her clan were secretly werewolves 🤩”
So the grand line Nomads have this dark secret where they are actually not really normal people, they are a species of werewolves that are inspired by Irish folklore. Their ancient ancestors were ones not to be trifled with because of these powers they held. They could transform at will, wreak havoc across the grand Line, destroy villages, everyone, and everything in their path, they had very little control of this feral side, these were very chaotic and dangerous creatures. As they evolved, later generations learned to suppress these powers so they could live peacefully among others and manage to establish a more docile personality. They still wanted to be close to nature so they adopted this Peaceful vibe and sooth these urges through becoming hunter gatherers, to sort of Pacify this Wild Side. However some people in the clan were more susceptible to it especially when then went out hunting.
As generations pass, Sel’s father believed that they could control this feral nature and use them
For good instead of suppressing it. Many others have this ideal too while others enjoyed living in a more mundane way. this caused a lot of divide between people in the village because even if they were to be successful with maintaining proper control of this ability they would be then classified as a “threat” to the world government. However, he still secretly tries to train her on how to use it properly. But after a fatal accident, Sel was so terrified of the destruction caused by her when she first transformed, she swore to never use that power again. They were then caught by the head Chief of the clan and her father was executed, Sel does manage to escape but she can’t go back to the Grand line anymore because of this.
Fast forward a bit here, the tension between her and her clan rises because she manages to activate the werewolf form during the Onigashima Raid. This puts a huge Target on her Crew’s back and the Grand Line Nomads because she just exposed the true form of their people. So the clan try go as far as to live among civilians or they start to become more spread out to make it difficult for the marines to hunt them down.
*There’s a ton of lore here and I might have missed a few minor details but its a lot to put in one ask. Please take your time reading it 😅 apologies for any typos*
Cheers ❤️

Oh I really like that!
Generations removed from when things were chaotic and dark, Sel's people look to harness a power that, in truth, they still barely contain. That attempt leads her father to try and train her to maintain her control, only for Sel to lose control and trigger, at the least, a bloodbath, at the worst, it could've caused a domino effect through those immediately present, forcing transformations throughout the village.
In the end, her father is executed for his recklessness and Sel is meant to be isolated and contained - in her fear and sorrow however she flees, in effect banishing herself. After the tragedy the village doesn't have the capacity to track her down and thus she slips into the mists of the wide world.
Until Onigashima.
If she's been careful to distance herself from the GL Nomads then she might not endanger them, but if she's angry and raw from the execution of her father, she might not care.
I like it though \o/ It's a lot of good stuff you can play with, refining the details into what you want =3
