Call me Quill! (They/Them) This might be a writeblr, but I also have a deep, nerdy love of the natural world, so don't be surprised if you see a lot of that, too! If you like my work, consider supporting me on patreon!

Cassie’s Fantastic Road Trip Playlist

I may or may not have impulse-made a playlist to stave off writer’s block, anyway

Here is a lovely link to this super upbeat playlist that is perfect to listen to while you’re on the run with your besties (bonus points if you’re driving a stolen car)!

Bops include:

  • Anna Sun - WALK THE MOON
  • LA Devotee - Panic! At The Disco
  • Don’t Stop Me Now - Queen
  • Raise Your Glass - P!nk
  • The Walker - Fitz and The Tantrums

(rest under the cut!)

Ahh, I always love road trip playlists, especially ones with a twist~

I really enjoy how this ties in so nicely to your wip, too! <3

iris glass [Sentenza] - An Ambergris Playlist - [spotify]

*

Setlist:

hhhhNNNNNGGHHH HOW DARE TUMBLR NOT TAG ME IN THIS

THIS IS JUST!! SO COOL! SUCH A COOL IDEA!! First off, beautifully fitting music, second, I LOVE how it’s used to tell his backstory in parts!! The aesthetic is so wonderfully fitting and that title, Iris Glass? A reference to his glass eye, right? So neat~

spirits / air: a playlist for @shadescrawlslisten

I’ve been listening to Side A as my morning music, so far I really like it! I particularly like 妖精の手招き and smoke and mirrors so far. Birds pt 2 sounds like something Justin would hear while arguing with animals ahaha.

Thank you for the playlist, and congrats on the follower milestone!

I finally got around to villain playlists! Hope you like Esil’s playlist - these are songs I associate with him, not necessarily everything he’d listen to, though there is some (a lot of) overlap. Enjoy our resident goofy mass murderer.

I didn’t make bios for my villains because both of them are literally nothing but spoilers, so have fun with this tiny peek into his personality: Tagging people who were interested: @inkwell-attitude , @siarven , @re-writing-h , @kittensartswriting , @yearlyaquariace , @wordsofpaintandsmoke

aahhhhhhh PLAYLIST PLAYLIST I LOVE

And it’s VILLAIN TIME. I love this selection! Gives a delightfully uh... chaotic... impression of this character! He’s uh. Yeah. Just a tad scary. But I love so many of these songs, ahhhh, wonderful. Why do I always end up liking the evil people. hm.

Ahhh, I always have a love for story playlists! And of the little I’ve listened to it already, very fitting songs to that teen rebellious spirit feel, and there’s just that piece of unsettling horror aspect there, too! Wonderful choices, mate~

One Siren’s Soul OC Playlist: George Atkins - The gentle giant that just wants a nap, the adopted father and missing son, and the one that’s really only a pirate because he doesn’t want to leave his friends---that said, retiring to the country to some nice peace and quiet does strike his fancy.

"Ye know, bein' sunk to the seafloor ain't really what I meant when I said I wanted a rest from all this."
  1. Sheppard - The Best Is Yet To Come
  2. Phillip Phillips - Home
  3. Foxworth Hall - Waiting
  4. Josef Salvat - Home
  5. Of Monsters and Men - King And Lionheart
  6. Audiomachine - Homecoming
  7. The Oh Hellos - Constellations
  8. Dodie - Ready Now
  9. Foxworth Hall - Daylight
  10. Marcus Warner - Carried Home

Note; some of these are more fitting than others, but I chose these songs to convey general vibes and ambiance.

I don’t know why I feel weird calling George Colin’s dad but I guess I see them more like really good buddies than parent and child, despite the fact that it is practically indisputable that he’s acted as Colin’s father figure for the past decade+. I do so love their dynamic, but something else I adore is the fact that Isa and George are basically inseparable friends. Rather interesting, considering their, uh... contrasting personalities. ^^’

One Siren’s Soul OC Playlist: Isabel García-Ramírez - The one-handed warrior who never left her rebellious phase, the adopted and adoptive parent---”Piracy’s a family business, you know?”---and as far as she’s aware, the only competent one on board the Diluculo.

"I'm warning you: You take one more step? I won't be the only one on this ship with just one arm."
  1. Kevin McAllister - Play Dirty
  2. Valley of Wolves - Lions Inside
  3. Matt Beilis - Walk Like Giants
  4. Willyecho - Everything or Nothing
  5. CRMNL - Devil Inside
  6. Adam Jensen - The Hunter
  7. Valley of Wolves - Born Bold
  8. The Score - Hunger
  9. Royal Deluxe - Dangerous
  10. CRML - Trouble

Note; some of these are more fitting than others, but I chose these songs to convey general vibes and ambiance.

Say hello to Colin’s (scary) mom. She’s lovely but she’s also prone to probably starting way too many fights due to her strong opinions and bossy demeanor. That’s not to say she doesn’t win those fights, though.

This just a little post introducing the official wip playlist for ‘To Catch the Sea’! I’ve split the graphic in two by songs and instrumentals, since it’s split half and half exactly. A lot of the instrumental songs in particular were on older versions of this WIP playlist, while a lot of the song-songs are new.

I did a little recap below of the character-related songs/themes from the playlist:

WIP Themes

  • Leap of Faith / Poldark
  • (LoF is more of a main theme but I feel like if this wip had an opening number it would be the Poldark theme)

Character Themes

Character Songs

More on To Catch the Sea here!

AH, THIS IS LOVELY

Gosh, the edit is so clean and pretty I adore it~ I love the formatting of this post, too! All the lovely colours and the themes vs. songs. Can’t wait to listen through these, a lot of them I haven’t heard before!!

One Siren’s Soul OC Playlist: The Scientist - The first human to study the links between magic and science, the collector of souls, the creator of the contract, and the holder of memories best left forgotten.

“Your resistance is... unfortunate. I was hoping for a clean slate, this time.”
  1. Imitosis - Andrew Bird
  2. The Scientist - Coldplay
  3. Crossfire - Stephen
  4. When Our Bodies Wash Ashore - Aviators
  5. Silence - No Name Faces
  6. Become The Beast - Karliene
  7. Under The Water - Aurora
  8. Glory and Gore - Lorde
  9. Devil, Devil - MILCK
  10. Hurricane - Thirty Seconds to Mars

Ah yes, the most spoiler-filled character of the series. The Scientist has connections to many of the cast, and there may just be some puppet strings at work, there...

The Scientist doesn’t “show up” until later on in the series, but is name-dropped multiple times throughout the first book--most notably because of The Scientist’s Contract, a rather curious bounty that was posted up for the capture of a one-eyed Spanish girl, a silver band about her ankle to identify her. But the contract is over twenty years old, now. Who would believe that it’d still apply?

Aaahhhh, I get such lovely vibes from this! I haven’t listened to everything yet, but the first impression I get is absolutely so fitting to the postcard graphic alone---nostalgic, just like place memory. LOVE IT.

I love how these songs match the country-esque theme to his character, too! Although I’m only heard some of these, I can’t wait to go ahead and give a listen to the others~

[Heartsick Outlaw]

Character playlist for: Rosalind Garcia-Jones

“You don’t see me for seven years, and this is how you greet me?” Rosalind chuckled, pulling her hat off. She held it to her chest and tipped her head towards Eliza with a smirk. “I expected nothing less coming from you, Miss Carpenter.”

i. I Fall To Pieces - Patsy Cline
ii. Hunger - Florence and The Machine
iii. Power Over Me (acoustic) - Dermot Kennedy
iv. Crazy - Patsy Cline
v. Work song - Hozier
vi. Mama Tried - Merle Haggard & The Strangers
vii. Love Me Tender - Elvis Presley

Writer’s Note- I’m such a sap. This playlist is a mix of my Nana and Papa’s favorite songs as well as mine. It’s very close to my heart.

Ooh mate you’ve got some of my favourites here, too! Although plenty of these I haven’t listened to yet, and that’s always wonderful~

What an intriguing quote! Seven years??? IS A WHILE???? And a beautiful graphic edit, to go along with it!

One Siren’s Soul OC Playlist: Sindre - The young prodigy of the Compass, he of hidden skills and hidden faces and hidden words, the searcher for souls and finder of fallen... and the second to carry her burden of guilt.

“Ma’am, you don’t, you don’t understand... You’re too nice to those you don’t know. You always were.”
  1. The Oh Hellos - Hello My Old Heart
  2. AURORA - Soulless Creatures
  3. Alexi Murdoch - Breathe
  4. Dean Lewis - Waves
  5. Ólafur Arnalds ft. Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir - Particles
  6. Les Friction ft. Emily Valentine - I Remember
  7. Seafret - Give Me Something
  8. Yoe Mase - Lonely (Acoustic)
  9. Natalie Taylor - Come To This
  10. Nick Kingswell - Swim

Note; some of these are more fitting than others, but I chose these songs to convey general vibes and ambiance.

Sindy had a very close friend when he was younger. Perhaps an only friend. It’s unfortunate that they don’t seem to be around, anymore...

Although Sindre is a seemingly minor character, that ‘seemingly’ may be misleading!

Music that inspired When Wolves Cry — Listen here.

And there they stood, revenants and children of the valley, facing the ends of the world with their halcyon constellations melting behind them, and forward they trekked on paws still clean of blood that they had yet to bleed.

Oh! Oh oh oh OH! I LOVE THIS

I love the de-saturated coldness to the aesthetic, yet the cuteness of the little pup and the warmth of the sunny forest! What wonderful songs, as well--I’ve only recently stumbled across The Oh Hellos myself and find them wonderful, so I’m certainly curious to listen to the rest!

What a quote, wow...

One Siren’s Soul OC Playlist: Rose Acharya - Wild card, thorn wielder, hunter for bounties and hunter for sirens, and the manipulating liar with a hidden agenda and a permanent grudge.

“You’ve got a lot of bounty on that sweet little head of yours, it’d be a shame if someone were to catch a hint that you’re here... I’d be careful, if I were you.”
  1. I DONT KNOW HOW BUT THEY FOUND ME - Choke
  2. AViVA - Blame It On The Kids
  3. The Offspring - You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid (Explicit)
  4. grandson - Blood // Water
  5. 8 Graves - Burning Alive
  6. Set It Off - The Haunting (Explicit)
  7. Rag’n’Bone Man - Hard Came the Rain
  8. Aviators - Godhunter
  9. AViVA - Hushh
  10. grandson - Bury Me Face Down

Note; some of these are more fitting than others, but I chose these songs to convey general vibes and ambiance.

Rose is likely my closest character to being a genuine villain. She may seem harmless at first, but look past the flowers in her hair, the sweetness to her words, the softness of her laugh... and you might just find something as dark and cold as her eyes.

One Siren’s Soul OC Playlist: Captain Vũ Thọ Xuân- The captain of the Rồng Naga, the Dragon among Sirens, the half-sister with half-magic, the exiled outlier of lost years and lost memories and lost life--and the guardian of Surge’s Fang.

“Kill you? No, no. You’re far too valuable for that. Oh, but treasure, by the end of this, you’re going to be wishing I had left you to the sirens.”
  1. Panic! At The Disco - Let’s Kill Tonight
  2. Imagine Dragons - I’m So Sorry
  3. Fall Out Boy - Centuries
  4. Thousand Foot Krutch - Courtesy Call
  5. Panic! At The Disco - Crazy = Genius (Explicit)
  6. WAR*HALL - Night Of Your Life
  7. Esterly (feat. Austin Jenckes) - Built for Pain
  8. The Score - Legend
  9. Imagine Dragons - Warriors
  10. Sam Tinnesz - Legends Are Made

Note; some of these are more fitting than others, but I chose these songs to convey general vibes and ambiance. Lot’s of nostalgia here, folks.

Xuân is one of the major antagonists of book two of the One Siren’s Soul series! At least... for a time. They’re prone to breaking the fourth wall (to the other characters’ horror/bewilderment), acting like they’re better than everyone, making Bad Decisions, and overall being the one responsible for a whole big mess of trouble. But they’re also an infamous pirate captain with a penchant for violence and wild but winning strategies, so... maybe it’s best you tread carefully.

One Siren’s Soul OC Playlist: Chichima Solarin - First mate of the Compass, the Phoenix of the sea is the pirate’s devil, a Siren’s Mark, the immortal flame... and only a tad bit of a pyro.

“What say ye it’s time to liven this place up a ‘lil? I’m sure some orange and yellow’d paint that gunpowder all pretty now, aye?”
  1. The Score - Stronger
  2. Juliet Roberts - I’m On Fire
  3. Imagine Dragons - Whatever It Takes
  4. Oh The Larceny - Check It Out
  5. TRÏBE - Matter of Time!
  6. Mountains vs. Machines - Reigniting
  7. The Score - Higher
  8. The Phantoms - Made For This
  9. Club Danger - Living Legend
  10. Sam Tinnesz - Ready Set Let’s Go

Note; some of these are more fitting than others, but I chose these songs to convey general vibes and ambiance.

... She goes by Phoenix for good reason.
