Day one of @novella-november and off to a good start! I managed to crank out 1184 words for chapter 2 of untamed and full of teeth.

That's not a huge amount in a day for me, but because of my job I have far less time to write than I did previously. I love writing, but finding time lately is harder. A challenge like this is great for keeping me on track and motivating me.

The goal is 30000 words for the month, and I'm going to be working on untamed and full of teeth, along with in a brown house - that's my plan anyway!

There is a horrible, deafening snarl that sends a freezing chill down her spine. It startles both her and the pheasant, who immediately squawks and flies away in a frenzy of feathers.

Riza swings her gaze to where the noise came from, continuing to stare through the scope.

Run, something inside her whispers, but she ignores it - maybe it's a deer, something large they could live off for quite a while. Her stomach rumbles at the thought, saliva pooling in her mouth.

The idea of having enough meat to live off of for a long time, of not having to worry about being hungry, keeps her feet from moving, despite the fear trickling down her spine.

The idea, however, is immediately snuffed from her mind.

There's a crash, a snapping of branches, and it dawns on Riza that whatever this is, it's something much, much larger than a deer."
