17. What do they have in common? The both of them don’t seem like much on the surface. Their first impressions are often that they’re rowdy, reckless, and none too bright - and that they’re only motivated by the desire to have a good time. And all of that is absolutely true, but they’re both also surprisingly driven. Though they can both be a little short-sighted, even kind of selfish, when push comes to shove they’re willing to put themselves in harms way to protect the people around them. 25. Are they sentimental about gifts they’ve received from each other? Daffodil is. She’s sentimental about everything. Since they didn’t meet ‘til the Reaping was already in full swing, it’s not like they can go out and buy each other a box of chocolates. But they both do what they can with what they’ve got. Daffodil likes to sing for him. She’d play the banjo for him, too, and then he asked her to teach him. He can only play a few chords, and not too well, but she treasures their little jam sessions. Sharky’s gifts to her have been experiences. He takes her to places around Hope County she never would’ve found on her own, and they’ve had fun seeing the sights amidst all the chaos. To him, Daffodil seems so worldly and sophisticated, he didn’t think she’d care all that much. But she seems to have fun seeing little tourist traps, camp sites, and fishing spots. 39. Who gets hit on the most? Daffodil, but not as much as she’s used to. Most folks around Holland Valley know that she and John had a history. She pulls her weight enough within the Resistance that she’s proven her loyalty to them, but some people are still on the fence about her. And Sharky, meanwhile, has a reputation. One that’s getting a little better now that he’s been fighting against Eden’s Gate, at least. 46. How do they make each other laugh? They don’t as often as you’d think. They both think the other is absolutely brilliant. When one makes a weird observation or comes up with some kind of half-baked idea, the other’s likely to nod enthusiastically and go “You are so right, babe!” But sometimes Sharky completely catches Daffodil off-guard. She’s not used to being caught off-guard. At first he thought she was laughing at him, and it left him feeling some kinda way. But then he learned that the quickest way to get her out of her pants is to make her laugh, so he doesn’t mind it anymore. Sometimes she’ll think he’s joking when he was being completely serious, and he just rolls with it. Other times he’ll be joking and she’ll think he’s sincere, and he’ll keep adding to it and see how long he can keep it up. That’s how he convinced her that there was a wild man up in the mountains who’d left his wife to legally marry a very smart bear.
Daffodil figured out Sharky’s sense of humor pretty quick. She knows a perfectly-timed innuendo will get him to crack. And toilet humor, but she likes to keep it classy. She’ll only break out a fart joke in emergencies. She does end up making him laugh a lot, but it’s mostly a delighted, I Can’t Believe You Did That I Adore You So Much kinda laughter that has nothing to do with her comedy. She takes what she can get.
