I need the mens rights movement because I was taught by society and its media to hate men and despise masculinity.  When puberty hit me, I was so disgusted by what I would become that I suppressed my sexuality and gender identity, and was suicidal partly due to my self-loathing.

Well I mean look if I’m for now ignoring men’s rights (for which I am afraid I have unmitigated contempt) I also suppressed my sexuality and I think you’ll find many, many adult men who have dealt with issues of masculinity and gender as teenagers, and many teenage boys who are dealing with those issues atm. But if you seriously think that that restrictive masculinity and discomfort with maleness comes from the expectations of women you must be seriously cracked in the head

Also it’s acting as if women have never had to deal with femininity or their own gender or expectations

that’s precisely where the “crisis” of masculinity comes in - men finally have to look at their masculinity and role in society

…What media was this dude watching? In pretty much everything I’ve seen, I rarely see a feminine guy who isn’t treated as a joke. People make Chuck Norris jokes to venerate him. And shows that might be considered man hating like Sex and The City? They are pretty much shat on along with any other female fantasies like Twilight that people deride for being a fantasy with shirtless guys.

This reminds me of one blogger by GirlWritesWhat who pretty much blames women for any problem guys have with masculinity instead of looking at how men are the ones who created these crap gender roles and are now realizing that even they themselves can’t live up to their own expectations of manliness.
