In the horizon, The sun is slowly sets as heat still radiates off the surface of the water in waves. Jakes features reflect in your sunglasses as he stares at the waves crashing in the sand. His hand tightly interlaced with yours despite the radiating temperatures of San Diego Summer. His white button up open across your chest, covering your skin from the last rays of sunshine after a full day in its radiation. Everyone from the team had already left, having gotten enough sun, sand and football for the day. Before everyone made their way to the Hard Deck for a beer and a round of pool, Jake had grabbed your wrist and pulled you back. Asking you to stay for a moment. Nothing else had been said since then, nothing had to. The cocky pilot's mouth had stopped as he shared the silence only meant for you. His eyes expressed his gratitude for you loud enough for the moment, even though it will be muttered in your hair before he falls asleep tonight. His head eventually landed on your shoulder as the sun sunk behind the horizon until tomorrow.
