So I noticed in ACOFAS there were some moments where Azriel seems to school his face into complete impassivity regarding Elain.

The first is when Rhys is trying to pry into why Azriel wouldn’t be tracking Lucien (chapter 7):

And the next is when he realizes the entire Inner Circle is watching him open a gift from Elain (chapter 20):

…

I know I’m seeing what I want to see (ELRIEL!), but this feels like Azriel trying to guard himself from any shred of emotion coming through. If he truly felt nothing for Elain, he wouldn’t have to make the effort. Right? RIGHT?!
