some doodles after a break from drawing
i'm plagued by visions
sketches 10/13-10/14
almost 100%s of the eyes because i guess they werent close up enough
May I ask what program(s) you use and your favorite/most-used-often brushes?
i mostly use procreate now, and the brushes i use on there are:
- a default brush that was under inking (i think; i've moved it around in my brush sets) called Mercury with the pressure turned off
- a pencil-like brush that i made
- for coloring, most often i use a hard round brush with hue jitter per stroke -- the other one i use to paint sometimes is this one
sometimes i use clip studio paint although i don't very often anymore, so when i do use it it's mostly random brushes i got from csp assets to play with, however for coloring/painting i still just use a hard round brush with the same color jitter settings as above. for drawing/inking though there is still a place in my heart for this brush
to be honest for me it doesn't matter as much which brush i use to draw/ink, because every single one i use i almost always turn the pressure to low or off, and turn off stabilization if any, so a lot of it ends up looking like the same brush as before lol
Do you use references or did you learn by doing studies (or both) when it comes to drawing clothing and clothing folds? It's so good! I can't stop looking whenever your art comes up on my dash
thanks!
honestly i don't quite remember how i started learning to draw folds but since i've been drawing for a while it was probably just from reference (either pictures or from life) and some of my own logical reasoning -- nowadays it's kind of both at the same time, i.e. i start drawing, get stuck on a certain fold, look up references, then figure out how to apply it to what i'm drawing (i dont usually do pure studies because i get bored lol)
actual guides and tutorials that spell it out for you aside, i think once you start looking+thinking+drawing for a while you start to develop some muscle memory for certain common folds, the way folds kind of flow with the body sometimes, etc, idk i think it's really fun to figure all that stuff out when i'm drawing so i'm glad it's at least nice to look at
decided to draw a part 2 to the first drawing in this post for no reason
How do you pronounce your username?
its a misspelling of chinese pinyin "qiao" but basically its pronounced like the english word "chow" :)
