They clearly modeled those to sound like our real world myths and legends (the Slaking one in particular I've seen many variations of in Asian monster legends) but then scrapped them because they didn't fit the game made for children. I don't know why people are acting as if this was secretly canon all along, scrapped content means it never happened, and if you work in the creative industry you know an enormous chunk of work is just spitballing random ideas or concepts then trashing it because it sucks.
Besides, monster-human hybrids were all the rage back then. Ripley got a Xenomorph hybrid, Jurassic Park 4 had a canceled human-raptor hybrid that even had concept art made, etc etc. I can totally see someone at Gamefreak making a Typhlosion-human hybrid story and immediately getting shut down lol.
You want distressing scrapped game concepts? The original concept for Team Fortress 2 was a gritty military shooter before Valve realized they were deeply unhappy with the concept and completely reworked everything from the ground up until they came out with the stylized 60's spy-fi setting of TF2. That's why it took 9 years to make, and thank goodness they scrapped the original.

You have no idea when that indie mom blog is going down or when Pinterest will remove that recipe. Copy it down in a notebook, physically or digitally. Save it somewhere only you can remove it. Trust me, looking for a recipe only to find out it's been wiped off the internet is so fucking sad. I've learned my lesson one too many times.
