It was as if he’d reached into Barry and cut through his heart.

Electrocuted - the word rolls around on his tongue, an unspoken horror. He shoves the device in an old toolbox, locks a chain around it and hefts it to the deepest level of S.T.A.R. Labs, to the darkest corner to be laid to rest away from the living. Other than the gnawing guilt, mostly he feels foolish for thinking it was a good idea to try to communicate with other universes – potential other universes that is, so probably a waste of time.

He doesn't sleep as much as he ought to, so he's forever haggard when he looks in the mirror. He's not meant to get a full night's rest, unofficially, in case he loses control. Sometimes he's so desperate to close his eyes for a little longer, he doesn't care in that moment what the price would be.
