DCTV moodboards: Westhallen Christmas

Eddie and Iris have the snuggly socks in the top right - none for Barry because he’s already toasty warm without socks or the fire the other two like at this time of year. Barry is, however, determined to knit them matching sweaters and uses his speed to practice knitting a lot without them finding out (and lots of unraveling anything that doesn’t make the cut) before he makes the ones he considers giftable for their set to wear together. Luckily Eddie’s a dab hand at Christmas cookies - with Iris helping do the decorations for them only - though the cookies disappear pretty quick around Barry so they have to do big batches (and sneakily hide just a few away so they last a bit longer).

Fic summary: When one of your trio is the Flash, it’s never too late to say ‘I love you.’

Snippet:

Barry’s wistful smile is full of all the generous love he always shared so freely with Iris and Eddie both. "I love seeing you love each other," Barry used to say. No one ever meant it more.

Eddie is watching her with the same glint of adoration that never left his eyes, from the day he brought Iris’s laptop home to her, until the day he— He’s got his head tilted curiously, but he’s not rushing her. So patient. Even when it came to those three little words she always struggled so hard to say. "You know Iris," she once overheard Eddie telling Barry. "She just has trouble saying what she feels. She’ll get there."

This is the last chance she’ll ever get. For the two most devoted men she’s ever met, Iris West can damn well get over herself.

An Accidental Relocation

When a hypothermic John Doe turns up almost fatally wounded in Central City park after the singularity, he’s just another patient, put in a medically induced coma. It’s only later on, after the chaos passes, that questions need to be asked – like why a gunshot victim has an unidentifiable type of bullet in him. Iris takes on the case, visiting for updates occasionally as she mulls the scant known facts.

Then he wakes up.

Summary & A/N: I’ve been super busy but determined to make something for Multiamory March (@polyamships), so I tried a triple drabble for the prompt ‘Distance’. You can find the prompt list here for anyone interested.

It’s probably kinda weird since it’s Speedforce!Barry POV but I liked the concept and am glad to be able to wrangle it into exactly 300 words 🎉. It’s here on AO3 but as it’s short I’ve also got it behind the read more.

1. What’s your personal favourite thing you wrote this year?

I think my favourite thing is actually a poem I wrote but didn’t post publicly, because I was worried about the person it’s about finding it as it’s not so flattering to them. Much as I want to share it, I’m not sure I will post it anywhere while they’re still alive. It’s probably good exactly because it’s so personal. As far as fanfic goes though, there’s a few I’m especially fond of (mostly fluff - I actually wrote a decent amount of fluff this year somehow?) but my absolute fave would be my first proper Westhallen fic “it’s the little things.”

6. What’s your favourite piece of dialogue you wrote this year?

My fics are usually fairly dialogue light so there’s not loads to choose from, but I think this pun is my fav:

“This isn't the kind of heatwave I enjoy,” Len says with a semi-serious huff.  (which is from a Coldwestallen oneshot here) Questions here.
