Please forgive Cisco not being on the poster. The love interest for the film isn’t on the poster either, because spoilers for the ending, and I was trying to recreate the film poster/book cover for the AU.
Anyhow, imagine a High School AU (wherein all the actors are about 15 years too old as isn’t too unusual for Hollywood) where Hartley is in his school’s musical with Iris and Barry, and newcomer Eddie too. Cisco is on the periphery of that friendship group, but Hartley and Cisco only really snipe at each other with a little semi-friendly competition and nothing more.
Add in a creepy young Eobard blackmailing Hartley and trying to become Barry’s friend via that deal. Meanwhile, Hartley ends up emailing and confiding in bulbasaur52 about being gay, something he hasn’t yet told even his best friend, Lisa. Cisco is also helping behind the scenes with the musical, dreaming of performing like his friends and only sharing that dream with the guy who signs off every email with ‘in simplicitate, cordis’.

DCTV moodboards: Hartbarrisco - Chess AU
Hartley was once a promising young chess prodigy, whose life, unbeknownst to most, has been slowly unraveling. When his mentor, and only real ally left, forsakes him - in favor of other up and coming chess players who catch public attention far better - Hartley is emotionally crushed at first. But then he doubles down on his ambitions to climb to the very top of competitive chess leagues; to earn the money he needs now he’s been disowned, and to prove to everyone his worth once and for all
The problem with that is, Barry Allen and Cisco Ramon keep beating him - he’s never out of their shadows. Barry is fast and has an intuitive talent that Hartley struggles to comprehend. Cisco’s just as good in his own way, though a much more technical player. What gets to Hartley is that Cisco is much more interested in building a chess playing AI, that Barry is helping train - Cisco has all that skill but doesn’t even love the game the same way Hartley does.
And to add insult to injury, Eobard has thoroughly instructed them on Hartley’s weaknesses, leaving him at a distinct disadvantage. Still, Hartley keeps coming back to play them, a challenge he can’t ignore if he wants to be the best. Each time he’s laying himself bare and open to their scrutiny. With a worthy opponent seated across from him he at least feels less alone in the world for a time. He doesn’t expect to form any kind of attachment, but perhaps it was inevitable, when love and hate are so closely entwined, that his passion would express in other ways.

Made for @hartmonfest Hartmon Halloween and the prompt of 'Time to party’. This is more 80′s than Halloween I know, but maybe Hartley also has some vamp fangs in to spooky it up. Can see Cisco bringing a genuine boombox and mixtapes, and insisting on doing the dances for certain songs, like the Thriller routine.

Made for @hartmonfest Hartmon Halloween and the prompt of sweet treats, although I guess it falls under headcanons too since I realised I could say a little on it. :)
Both of them like to bake, but Cisco gets really into trying out new Halloween themed recipes. Hartley also likes to read outside even though it’s getting too cold by October, and has a mug warmer for his tea/cocoa that Cisco knitted for him. They get wrapped up tight for taking walks together, far away from any other people when they need some time to decompress, though they’ll often forego wearing gloves and make use of pockets instead, just to be able to hold hands. Thanks to being able to breach places, they can enjoy some stunning locations for their walks but they usually keep it season appropriate.

Summary: What should be a welcome touch sends mental alarm bells ringing. He turns to see Cisco's eyes earnestly searching his, and it's so familiar. That's how he knows it's too late.
Hartley gets stuck in a time loop and has to figure out how to change the day to save Cisco and the team.

Made for @hartmonfest combining “classic book fusion“ and “picture prompt 2″ (which was a heart shape that’s been carved out of some brush). I started writing a ficlet to go with the moodboard but it got out of hand and won’t be finished this month so here’s an angsty snippet to go with the moodboard.
Creators: give a “behind the scenes” look at one of your works. This could be things that got removed or changed, the origins of ideas/details, whatever you like!
I find it hard to do Trivia Tuesday because I don’t know what people want to hear about and my brain tends to tell me no one will care. But on the off chance my brain is wrong, here’s a rare post for the day. Decided to do it on my Hartmon fics. I know that’s not looking at one work like it says but I’d not done this for a while so consider it as lots of trivia saved up. :D
So “with one's own hand” I wrote for ASL day, I originally had notes that Hartley got hurt, was stunned or lost his hearing aids and was signing because he couldn’t speak in that moment, and that was when Cisco signed something Hartley didn’t know. I realised I didn’t like that scenario much when I sat down to write - I wanted something less whumpy/dramatic for Hartley - and actually I think I’d somehow conflated that plot element from another plot bunny about a future Hartley appearing and switched stuff round in my mind when writing the notes. In the other fic, which I will hopefully write someday, Hartley has a rough time travel landing in the Cortex, doesn’t realise yet he’s time travelled, signs something to Cisco only to find this past Cisco doesn’t yet sign (and also isn’t his husband or even boyfriend yet).
“Between Hope And Fear” aka the quarantine themed whump/angst fic was very much written based on my own fears that if my boyfriend got sick I wouldn’t be able to be with him. I wasn’t sure whether in that theoretical scenario I’d even get what Hartley got in the fic with the phonecall, so it was writing a happier possibility for my fave characters. Thankfully, so far, only 1 person I know has definitely had COVID and not my boyfriend or family. I think it did me good to get my worries out in fic format though.
I also had a comment about the sneak preview six sentence sunday line for that fic - about Hartley saying ‘How long?’ - where a reply wondered if it was gonna be smutty and the answer was no. But I’ve considered since writing the line in question into another actually smutty fic sometime. :D Although the premise for that won’t be to everyone’s tastes as it has something akin to sex pollen ala meta involved.
“Not Precisely A World Away “ which was quite a dark tragic like-Earth-2-but-not-Earth-2 fic was originally part of “all the roles we didn’t play” but I decided it was way too dark so it ended up stand alone (and then forgot to change the chapter count for the other fic, oops).
“all the roles we didn’t play” still has several chapters to be written - one where Cisco finds the PA fault and is fired; another where Hartley has Caitlin’s role as medic but still his own powers and she is a physicist, Frost and vengeful; another where Hartley is the Flash and Barry has superhearing.
“The Only Version Known To Earth“ was my first Hartmon fic and so so hard to write because it was a fluffy prompt and I find fluff Difficult. I think I’m getting better at fluff but still like some angst with happy ending to earn the fluff. I was pleased with the result in the end but I think it referencing The Cursed Child probably counted against it for people having interest in reading/commenting on it.

Cisco is an angel with a sweet-tooth and a definite attachment to living down on Earth, doing good in small ways where he’s allowed to. He takes his assignment very seriously these days. If you want to influence them for the better you have to understand humans so it logically follows he should figure out what makes them tick. And dance. Perhaps some singing as well. He surrounds himself with books and new gadgets to tinker with that don’t entirely operate on the laws of physics as humanity would understand them.
Hartley is a demon who asked one too many questions and was judged a traitor, a snake in the grass. Nowadays he prefers to shift as a rat, less conspicuous for the urban world. In theory, he’s doing bad deeds like he’s meant to, but in reality, he’s just taking advantage of what people are bound to do anyway. Plus, Earth’s alright. Better than hell at any rate. There’s cool technology. Some half decent songs too. And at least he’s got decent competition in Cisco even if overall the good and bad they do balances out.
Over the centuries, their once antagonistic relationship has mellowed and there’s a strange camaraderie that’s developed. Neither one of them is keen on the idea of the apocalypse so it only makes sense they cooperate to keep the status quo they’re both so comfortable with. But despite their best efforts, it appears things do have to change somehow.
