Wait, I can’t close the door. Well, otherwise [the creatures are] gonna get back out. We can only do that from in there now. The control’s on the other side but whoever does it will be locked in.

Another thing I am wondering about for the show's Ice Court job changes is related to Tante Heleen. Because S2 killed her off pretty quick, which felt rather unsatisfying for being a) offscreen and b) that denies Inej some closure she got from the confrontation that's in SOC.
I do actually wonder if it's going to be a misdirect though; no body onscreen, only hearing about it from a dodgy third party. For narrative purposes, we've not seen a body so it's not 100% confirmed. And the stadtwatch certainly are corrupt enough that it could be entirely fabricated despite the Crows getting in trouble for it legally.
Perhaps Tante Heleen survived Pekka's assassination attempt but made it look like she died using an unfortunate other Menagerie employee and Pekka happened to use the faked death to frame the Crows. Or perhaps he offered her a similar deal to the one he offered the other club owner in S1, the 10% of your own business or I kill you deal, and Heleen took 10% but they also came to an agreement to frame the Crows for a faked death of hers too and she fled the city as part of the ruse.
Basically, I just don't trust the show that she is really dead. So in that case Tante Heleen showing up at the Ice Court celebrations unexpectedly would cause some drama and a way for them to bring up more about Inej's backstory and trauma related to her during those events.

in Men at Arms, Vimes takes a moment to wonder how many watchmen have had his badge before him, and who will have it after, and the idea of Sam Vimes dying hit me like a sledgehammer (again) and god I bet they retire the badge number after he finally dies. no one else can be #177. fucking hell.
Imagine Carrot slipping the badge into Vimes’ coffin. It’s not technically a dwarf burial, because badge 177 isn’t technically a weapon.
But it should be plenty for Commander Sam Vimes, in case he encounters…anything.
It’s a tool.
It’s not technically a dwarf burial. But Carrot’s probably been quietly retiring badges belonging to active Watch when they go because they’re tools. To use someone else’s tool after death is, as we see in I believe it’s Feet of Clay, Terrible.
Of course Carrot would retire it. The man has the Summoning Dark on his wrist. He needs all the tools he’s got.
no of course I’m not crying, this place is just infested with chopped onions
I present to you a random arse dream I had recently. It gets odd and rather dark, probably due to what I was writing lately. I feel like my brain did invent a possibly fun new way to do murder mysteries with it though.
