Glass Gem is a unique strain of corn with kernels that look like pieces of rainbow-colored glass. Source

Carl Barnes, an Oklahoma farmer, started growing older corn varieties to connect with his Cherokee heritage.

He isolated ancestral strains Native American tribes lost in the 1800s when they were relocated to Oklahoma.

Soon he began exchanging ancient corn seed with growers from all over the country, while simultaneously saving and replanting seeds from the most colorful cobs.

This eventually resulted in rainbow-colored corn.

When the rainbow corn mixed with the traditional varieties it created new strains, displaying more vibrant colors and patterns over time.

Glass Gem is a flint corn, so it isn’t really eaten off the cob. It’s usually ground into cornmeal and used in tortillas or grits, but it can also be used to make popcorn.

If you love corn and rainbows, seeds can be purchased online for about $7.95.

“Is this per sibling???” who tf cares? I’d slap all seven of mine for a cold crunchwrap supreme

They would demand a piece of the cut but all my siblings would be insulted if I said no to this much money to slap them

Honestly questions like this are always made by single children. It doesn’t matter how close you are, the answer is inevitably a resounding YES

I would slap my sibling if a random person in the street suggested it. For genuinely slapping with full strength, I guess, like…$10? $10 for my younger brother, $20 for my older sister.

I’ve slapped my sister for FREE.

Granted, she had a tick on her face, but still.

A lot of gay people don’t date in high school for various possible reasons (they’re not out, others their age aren’t out, possible ridicule, the struggle to find someone who’s not only gay but you genuinely like). Most of us end up that awkward age of our first relationship in the ages 18-21. And yes I think this applies even more so if you’re transgender. This isn’t to say none of us date in high school, but most of us don’t.

To show gay teens in coming of age stories having relationships, or portraying romantic relationships for gay people starting in their teens when telling a gay story, is mostly inaccurate. Our stories of finding love are very different from our straight peers. To portray us in the exact same way you’d portray a gay person’s story when it comes to growing up and finding love, I feel sets unrealistic expectations for young gay people.

I’ve met a lot of LGBT teens who say “I wish I could find a partner and I don’t know why I haven’t yet” who have no idea that’s fairly normal that in this point in their lives haven’t found someone yet. A lot of them end up getting in them their adulthood and finally experiencing those first relationships they’ve been wanting to, entering that awkward learning how to date stage. There’s nothing wrong with this, and I think this needs to be portrayed moreso in fiction as we see other gay people in real life tell their stories that are very similar to this.

Relationships get so bananas when you start deciphering the other person’s love language.

Like I thought I was just acquaintances with this person because they never told me details about themselves and we just talked movies and writing . But then they made time to have coffee with me and they showed up out of breath because they ran. Like. RAN to be on time for coffee with me?

And I was like “i don’t mind waiting” cause I never want to run

But they said they wanted every minute they could get because I’m so busy usually

Which is when it clicked that I didn’t get how much they considered me a friend because I just straight away didn’t see MY signs of affection in them and went “cool! Casual buds it is.” But now that I’m seeing their signs of affection, I feel a little silly for dismissing them like that even though I felt like we could be best bros.

Anyway, some people show affection through time or intensity or commitment and not vocally. I really have to remember that!

Fyi- just in case you didn’t know.

TOUCH got a bro that likes to give high fives? Back slaps? Are they a hugger? Do they not blink an eye at cuddles?

QUALITY TIME this bro will (as op stated) sprint to spend every minute possible with you. Every second that you guys are together is a declaration of affection.

WORDS does your bro tell you how amazing and great and fantastic and wonderful you are all the time? Guess what…?

GIFTS do they buy you coffee? Snacks, energy drinks, spot you at the restaurant? Did that one key chain removed you of them? Ding ding!

ACTS are they always doing things for you? Ie: Nah bro, I got this, I can do that, need me to get anything for you, I can help with…?

PRO TIP - The way people show love is often how they receive love as well.

I reblogged this recently but it got better and ive been thinking and learning a lot abt love languages so

In the context of romantic love (although of course it doesn’t have to be exclusive to that), I suggest taking a love languages test with your partner early on and comparing your results with each other.

My partner and I did it early on in our relationship and it was really enlightening. It’s really good for facilitating conversations about expectations in the relationship.

“Birds evolved from dinosaurs.” While this statement is technically true it isn’t very useful and thus is a misconception of the relationship among avian, dinosaurs, and reptiles. Not only did birds evolve from dinosaurs — birds ARE dinosaurs.

I don’t even know. It’s from a book about languages my friend’s been reading. (it’s creepy that I can understand it …)

It was actually invented with that purpose: anyone who spoke any European language should be able to understand esperanto. It was meant to be a lingua franca.

STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING Y’ALL AND TELL ME IF YOU UNDERSTAND THIS

I,understand about a half of it, I speak some dutch

“What Happened? Did your computer catch a virus? Did you suddenly develop BSE [mad cow disease]?”

Between German, English, Latin, a bit of French, Dutch, Spanish and Italian that was actually pretty readable to me.

I speak English and a very little spanish, and I can read it.

Super legible and I love it.

There are a few movies done partly or entirely in Esperanto, the most famous probably being Leslie Stevens’ Incubus (1966), a horror film starring William Shatner!

I only speak two languages (English and Spanish) and I got this loud and clear

I also speak English and Spanish (okay, and a tiny smattering of German, which probably helped) and understood this completely.
