“I have been lax.” There’s activity in the hallway now — her ten minutes are almost up, and a few actors are trickling into the auditorium from their impromptu breaks. Harrow keeps her voice at a murmur. “I have allowed you far more freedom than anyone else — cast and crew included. I have tolerated your chronic lateness, the constant interruptions, your propensity for inappropriate jokes. I will not tolerate the existence of a subpar performance due to the simple fact that our fight coordinator refuses to show up.”
By the end of the week, Harrow’s going to have a permanent injury from grinding her teeth this fucking much. She can feel it.
Or: Harrow is an overworked stage manager doing her best to keep their university's production of Hamlet from falling apart during technical rehearsals, Gideon is missing fencing practice to serve as fight captain, and they've got quite a bit of mutual history to work out before opening night.
