I always feel so salty about how late Mike joins the losers, but they waited for him.

There are so many times in the books when they think back to their summer and feel a hole where Mike is meant to be.

He was just as destined for the group, but they felt his absence so much until the rockfight.

I love you, Mike Hanlon 😭😭😭😭

😭😭😭😭

I’m kinda a dumb bitch when it comes to the arts. I didn’t really understand the dance, do you know what it all meant?

oh my god you do not know how thankful i am for this ask. you’ve given me an excuse to go off and i absolutely will.the dance opens with mac on his knees in the rain, he looks upwards, asking god for guidance about his sexuality which is easily the biggest obstacle we’ve seen him struggle with. then, from the shadows his dance partner walks onstage. mac’s partner being both a woman and god symbolises the path he thought he had to take, the heterosexual path. its also the only path that he thought god would accept and so it is both his relationships with women and his relationship with who he thought god was.

the beginning of the dance is very sexually charged but the music is still sad and mac’s face is mournful. he is not performing passionately, he is heartbroken.then mac distances himself from his partner, which shows him questioning god and his faith. he is questioning if this is really what god wants for him, whether god is who he always considered him to be (homophobic, wrathful, etc.). this is when luther gets up and leaves, which i think has symbolism in and of itself (esp. when if you think abt how mac has spent his whole life trying to make up for his parental neglect by finding pseudo parental figures and family dynamics. and how maybe this is why he is so tied to his faith).mac is distraught, sobbing openly in the middle of the performance. at this point he is playing the part of questioning whether his sexuality is okay and right and his father just left him (like, thats pretty on the nose abt living the fear of embracing himself meaning abandoning/being abandoned by god imho). for a few moments, mac is crying on stage and thunder growls overhead (god’s disapproval) as his partner lays idle beside him and he truly believes he is alone both spiritually and materially.however, his partner rises behind him, tall and strong, mac’s ideas of god have been re-birthed and reconsidered. she has not abandoned him and is instead showing strength when he cannot, which is what many say they experience through a benevolent god and their relationship to him. he looks up at her in awe and she pulls him up from the ground.the emotion of the dance has changed and so has the soundtrack, they are now powerful and working together. even when they are thrown across the stage from one another, mac is no longer fragile and lonely, his whole body language is strong and proud through the turmoil. he may experience trials throughout his life, but now with his new ideas of god and of his own strength he is confident that he can handle them. they are reunited again when his partner leaps at him and she is effortlessly caught. mac, bearing her in the symbol of a cross on his shoulders, raises her high above his head with his chest out. the camera is below him and he is the epitome of pride as he looms above us, both a gay man and a religious man. he is a child of god and he is comfortable with who he is and because the fear has been taken from him he is stronger now than he ever has been.and then he’s small again, cradled gently in the arms of god as she comforts him. this time he isnt alone, god will be there for him, and she tells him what every gay person wants to hear when they’re coming to grips with who they are; “it’s okay”the dance is just a beautiful and emotional reenactment of mac coming to terms with who he is over all the seasons we’ve seen so far, it’s a monologue of what he was thinking this whole time and it’s him laying bare to the world who he is without hiding any part of himself.

What she says: I’m fine
What she means: American Vandal is a social commentary on how assumptions of “lost cause” students leads to them being treated as criminals without thought to their assumed innocence to the point that they begin to believe it themselves putting them in the center of a near inescapable revolving door of incarcerations and probations that inevitably destroy them because this country is obsessed with punishment over rehabilitation and it starts when we’re children.

Fun Fact Time:

Oscar Wilde had a lesbian niece

Yea

YEA

Her name was Dolly Wilde. She was the daughter of Oscar Wilde’s older brother, and was born about 3 months after he died. She worked as an ambulance driver during WW1 and spent most of her free time banging rich ladies. And guys. GUYS.

SHE

LOOKS

JUST LIKE

HER UNCLE

They both have That Face.

I’m so, so happy I know this now.

I would like everyone to know that she went around telling everyone that she was her uncle reincarnated. OK have a good day.

Oh my God, Oscar Wilde and family had Resting Bitch Face.

:D

Resting Wilde Face

That “I’m a gay, Irish socialist in the Victorian era” face.

“Fuck everything about this world”

Side note: it wasn’t just the face. People who knew both Dolly and Oscar Wilde said that they sounded very similar and carried themselves in the same manor.

Both were pretty avid smokers. They both appreciated decadence. They both had very similar lovers.

Also, because history is insane, Dolly Wilde once hit on Zelda Fitzgerald, writer and wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Dolly once said of herself, “I am more like Oscar than Oscar.” And honestly yea, I get why.
