No but Jayce must have been so confused. Like imagine you almost get exploded by a terrorist attack and your partner almost dies so to save him you, a) discover that he has a purple leg because he let your decade long science project drink his blood or whatever and then b) use his notes to do more illegal and immoral magic-science to encase him in a goop chamber so your decade long science project can rebuild his body.
Then you sleep next to his goop-cocoon for who knows how long before suddenly he's crawling out of the goop naked as the day he was born and purple from head to toe, then when you're all like "I finally understand now" (crazy btw) "let's do science together for the rest of our days <3" he suddenly and without warning tells you he wants a divorce and then nopes out of not only your office but the country -- still purple and naked as the day he was born btw

The fact that Caitlyn finds out about the ventilation system her mom made to help the zaunites have clean air because she thought that they deserved to breathe, and Caitlyn immediately weaponized that against them?Simultaneously demonstrating the dark path she is heading down while also implying that Cassandra would not approve of the path her daughter is going down.
Maddie being introduced as this literal ray of sunshine and then being the first to beat along to Piltovers turn to martial law.
Maddie mentions to Vi that Caitlyn told the enforcers that Vi went after Silco and his gang on her own when the council wouldn’t back her. I think from this line it’s clear that Maddie (and Caitlyn too) is othering Vi from her identity as a Zaunite. Because she chose to go after Silco that mist mean she’s willing to align herself with Piltover as opposed to Zaun.
She was always discriminatory toward Zaunites, they just didn’t make it overt at her introduction. The turn to fascism and discrimination can start with anyone. Including a literal ray of sunshine.
EDIT: my original take: “Her interactions with Vi mystifying her as ‘one of the good ones.’ One of the good Zaunites.” Was a misinterpretation on my part. I had only watched the episode once at that point so I am correcting myself and instead adding a new take I could infer from the scene that you can read above.
This is precisely why the "Maddie is Secretly evil/a master manipulator" theories don't land for me. Because she doesn't need to be some evil malicious mastermind to be a threat to the people of Zaun. She doesn't need to be a villain lurking in the shadows in order to cheer for martial law, she just needs to be obedient.
In her eyes, she's doing the right thing! She's the good guy!
"Marcus was a bad apple and now that he's gone, the enforcers are all good now, no problemo! Never mind gassing the undercity, that was necessary to keep the 'good ones' off the streets while the strike team hunted the baddies! Never mind martial law, we're under attack by the bad guys! And look! Caitlyn's the most trustworthy person I know and now she's in charge! I trust her orders, I'll obey without question, because I'm the good guy!"
Her being in her early twenties is important too- There's a reason why army recruiters target young adults. It's not soley because of the flexibility/athleticism granted by their youth; it's the gullibility. Give a freshly-twenty man a gun and tell him that he's the good guy and he'll believe you because you're the guy they trust to give out guns.
It's also pretty easy to assume that like Cait, Maddie was sheltered as all hell. She learned from textbooks that favoured piltover, she joined the enforcers with all the optimism of a girl scout, and she knows Jack all about the undercity. She's a useful tool for Piltover. In order to uphold their system of oppression, Piltover doesn't need an army of Marcuses, they need an army of Maddies.
