Nintendo Power issue 113 (October 1998)
HAD TO DO A DEEPDIVE INTO FINDING IT BECAUSE I DID NOT BELIEVE IT. IT'S REAL.
I need someone to informedly comment on the typographical choices being made there.
To my lay-person eyeballs it seems like either a not fully developed brand identity or just. The didn’t see the need to define the entire ad with the brand identity. Or they had a specific idea and it’s just different from later aesthetic choices.
Specifically someone comment on the script/calligraphy starting letters. That’s so interesting to me. Was it a design trend at the time??
Like I’ve definitely seen text where the first letter of a word is differentiated from the rest of the letters but. Usually it seems less stark to me
