I feel like tsh fandom doesn't talk about the fact that Richard's first name isn't actually richard nearly enough
at the very beginning when he's filling out the hampden forms he writes his full name as john richard papen -- this is such a small detail and it's only mentioned once but it perfectly sets up his character. it's essentially a throwaway line but tells you everything you need to know
he lies about himself from the beginning. the Greek class never knows who he truly is and idk idk I just feel like it's so interesting because once he leaves California he ceases to be that person
