conglomerate mess

i wish we’d got to see more of perceptor in mtmte in terms of character development because there was so much to work with by the time mtmte began. in drift’s miniseries, perceptor is shot through the chest and left for dead and was only saved because drift went back for him. he decides he needs to repay the favor and become a warrior by modifying parts of his body despite people telling him not to. he goes on to fully join the wreckers, the group renowned for dying, as a sniper and by the last stand he’s passively suicidal. not only that but his relationship with prowl is one where despite protesting to prowl about the unethical things prowl wants him to do and keep quiet about he does them anyway. he keeps his mouth shut. i just wish we got more of him to see him actually pull himself out of that sort of self-destructive mindset besides “if he does science enough and sees commendable enough science he becomes more like his former self.” plus the person we actually see him closest with, drift, prior to mtmte is forced to leave only a quarter of the way through the series and we don't get to see the effect that has on him. theres so much there and it would've been nice to have seen in explored.

Listen I don’t have a type. BUT SOMEHOW every time I find and add a character to my favorites, he turns out to be a wrecker. My best theory - I have a built-in wrecker radar~

I came across this post, which reminded me of a small easter egg I’ve inserted in this last panel and it might have so subtle I never saw anyone commenting about it.

The printing didn’t help, it was a bit darker than the original, for that reason I’m posting the original panel. 

In the book, [SPOILERS] Orion Pax is speaking on behalf of Megatron to the Senate [/SPOILERS], so why not making some sort of reference to that.

The lighting in the Senate room and Orion consequentely do look odd and perhaps a bit off on some of these panels but these lights did have a purpose: the panel above alone.

I love the “starscream was a scientist” backstory because it informs absolutely none of his current character? Like yeah I used to be a scientist and I was really good at it and now I kill people and those two things are entirely unrelated like he isn’t an evil scientist and he didn’t have some tragedy where he had to Give Up science to fight he just. changed his mind one day out of spite apparently

 he gave up science after dumbass skyfire got himself stuck in an iceberg and ruined their scientific expedition, the science communtiy was like “lmFAO GTFOoooOOOO” Also because of his warframe build vs scientific models like a microscope. muh elitism prevents you from succeeding in our college because fuck you stupid guntoating warmachines, yall ain’t good for nothin but shootin [it wasn’t said like this but that’s the vibe you got: naggly little shits], this kinda stuff is tickled in Transformers Animated during bootcamps, and then further in the G1/IDW comics. Hence the introduction of Functionist Classes: Starscream fits into the Flight class rather than Scientific class. which is gonna cause problems when you want to be a nerd. 

and was then seduced wrangled persuaded to join the decepticon legion by megs because muh revolution because what else ya gonna do with your life if you get shunned by your scientific peers, i’d fuckin shoot an autobot if i were seething with hatred for everyhting in life too

though yes, it does inform of his current situation because starscream often DOES point out flaws in megatron’s plans, including ones that require scientific background to know. he also built meg’s fusion cannon. The one megatron shoots him with. He built it to impress megatron, only to get shot by it when megatron started going by feels over reals and not listening to what starscream had to say over what Megatron felt was right hence why decepticons keep losing and starscream getting screamier as the days go by because it’s just as infuriating to hear your scientific knowledge being shot down in a wartime scenario as it is in a college scenario

the comics were meant to elaborate on the cartoon because the cartoon is first and foremost to sell toys, as it has always been with hasbro. so not every little detail can be shoved into a show meant for kids, at least, was the general consensus for cartoons back then. That sort of stuff is better left for people with a more complex understanding of the world, aka for the comics.
