Came for the fandom, stayed for the awesome person.
When someone as great as you says things like that, I know I must be doing something right.
One last batch of replies before I go to bed (which I should have done about 1.5 hours ago, Lost what are you doing?).
Assorted replies, mostly cats. (That could probably be the title of my blog...)
Rory, multiples of three!
3 is here.
6. What’s their alignment? (chaotic good, neutral evil, etc.)
Lawful… um? They definitely believe in the importance of order, rules, and regulations, of trying to do things the right way, so the lawful part is easy. I think Rory wants to do the right thing and often tries to do the right thing, but their own demons (usually figurative) often stand in their way, and they don’t always have a good understanding of others’ perspectives or situations. So I’m going to say “aspiring to good,” and hope they’re able to get there.
9. Do they have a background story?
Yes. Some bits of their background are hinted at in “Uprooted,” and I mention their family in my answer to 10. Rory would have been perfectly happy to stay in the Circle and escape into books indefinitely, but when the Circles were dissolved, that ceased to be an option. They went on the run with their brother, moving around to avoid Templar or mage entanglements, writing a series of letters to Divine Justinia and other major figures pleading with them to resolve the mage-Templar conflict peacefully. This eventually gave them a reputation as a moderate figure and led to their invitation to the Conclave.
12. What’s the Inquisitor’s favorite food?
Rabbit stew. In general, they prefer simple, basic foods and don't have much of a sweet tooth.
15. Are they very fashion-conscious or more practical?
Hahaha. Rory likes to be neat and will replace or repair clothes when they wear out, but is as oblivious to fashion as a hedgehog. When Josephine tries to give some suggestions for formal appearances, Rory rejects most of her suggestions as too flashy. "But I don't want people looking at me, Josephine."
(In the Twinquisitor continuity, while Rory and Simon share the mark and are a partnership running the Inquisition, Simon does the public-appearance parts.)
18. Who will they romance, if anyone?
The delightful and amazing Cassandra Pentaghast. We'll see how this works out, both in game and in canon. Rory is ace but not aro, and romance is important to Cassandra, but I haven't figured out if she's ace in this universe.
(My life is complicated by her important role in Alya's canon, where she is not ace. This is a hazard of shipping Cassandra with basically everybody.)

Lots replies to lost of comments. Or something like that... :)
There's so much about the life of a mage that is left vague in the DA universe. In additional to the "what does magic feel like" question from earlier, I keep wondering who does the cooking, cleaning, etc. in Circles. Are there servants for that? Where do they live, then, and who pays them? Do mages do their own cooking? Do Templars?
(I'm pretty sure the Templars don't eat food prepared by the mages in most circles. I imagine many in the order would consider that a recipe for poisoned Templars.)
Replies to the earlier questions below the cut.
6. When did you get your first cell phone? What was it like? (Did it have a screen? Could you text? Was it a brick or flip?)
2003, so later than most of the folks I knew in grad school. We were moving to Florida, so having a phone number that would be stable while we were in transit seemed like it would be useful (and was). It was a flip phone, with a screen, and I can't remember if it had texting capabilities because I never tried. (I've still only sent a double-digit number of text messages in my life. I know, I know, I'll shuffle over by the dinosaurs and start fossilizing.)
17. What’s the oldest article of clothing you still wear?
Oh, man... I think a few t-shirts from college are still in the rotation. (At college, it was A Thing for student organizations to make t-shirts yearly, so I have a bunch of folk dance and SF group t-shirts.) Anything more fitted than a t-shirt from that era wouldn't fit me anymore, since I'm about 90 pounds heavier.
