The birds happily chirped away in the trees, and Rick watched them fly back and forth, only mildly jealous of their carefree existence. Though laying at the edge of the lake on an old dusty sun lounger he’d found tucked away in an old decaying shed, with the midday sun warming his bare chest, wasn’t all that bad.

Static crackled in his earpiece, disturbing the bird’s song. “Honey Trap is on the move.”

He hated the code name Waller had assigned to Ally. It made her sound like some kind of hooker when in fact, it was Waller using her for political and professional gain.

“Honey Trap is leaving the kitchen via the east door toward the lake.”

Though he disliked the nickname, it was helpful to know she was headed his way. At least he had some time to try and prepare himself for another devastating conversation. Their relationship, understandably, was tense. But there was an easy fix; all Ally had to do was touch him, and she’d see that his feelings for her were real. Yet her stubbornness was winning out, and she was allowing her anger to make short-sighted judgments.

The code name… Waller’s such a dick…

“He spread his arms wide, flexed his pecs purposely, and smiled smugly in the knowledge he still had an effect on her. “I’m on vacation.””

Brat…

That picture of him… Dead… I’m dead.

“I used love as a weapon, and that’s maybe the worst thing I’ve ever done.”

Oh ow.

He’s so protective of her. Oh Rick…

Ally was familiar with nice things, expensive clothes, wine that cost more than the clothes, fancy cuisine, and being treated like royalty. However, her family's riches and influence paled in comparison to Bruce Wayne’s. The lie she fed of working late and being too tired to meet for their third date hadn’t deterred the billionaire. Though she hadn’t expected it would, she’d been using her power on him for almost two weeks, and he was smitten; he couldn’t have said no to anything she asked of him. He’d been the one to insist she meet him in the restaurant of her hotel at nine-thirty. That fit perfectly with her plan, so ever playing the role, reluctantly, she’d accepted.

Just after eight-thirty, a hotel employee delivered a gift from Bruce to Ally’s room; a green silk gown with a thigh-high slit, the same color as her eyes, and sparkling silver Jimmy Choo stilettos. By twelve-thirty, all that remained were the heels.

“She beckoned him forward with a seductive curl of her finger, and he followed like a lamb to the slaughter, helpless and clueless.”

What an awesome line.

Oh… the whole thing with Bruce is so good. Waller’s a creep though…

Good for Ally for taking advantage of the situation to try to get what she wants out of it too.

And of the meeting again of her and Rick… my heart.

The fact that she DOES care for him and the reality that is just makes it hurt that much more when she looks at him… The pain that he has when he’s around her and doesn’t really have a choice of not being around her… these two break my heart.

How can you be around someone that you love, makes you feel safe. but also feel like you don’t really know them?? It’s a tough one, but Ally is a tough cookie 🍪 and being a bitch is her way of coping.

And her last line to him; was she wrong?? He can’t have it both ways, you know?!
