Sam Winchester entered your life like a whirlwind on your 17th birthday. Showing up in your class and taking your breath away. He’d quickly become your best friend, before becoming so much more.
You were young and in love and by the time you were turning 18 you were sure you couldn’t live without him. So when he suggested you run away together. Away from your abusive family and his brother and father. You had said yes in a heartbeat.
‘Cause if we don’t leave this town We might never make it out I was not born to drown Baby come on
You’d packed your bag and waited for your parents to go to work that morning. The thought of a new life with Sam making you so happy you didn’t even care that your parents had forgotten your birthday again. You loved your mother, but she only had room in her heart for the man who’d replaced your father. You needed better, you deserved better. So you wrote a letter, and left. Not even stopping to look back.
Leave a note on your bed Let your mother know you’re safe And by the time she wakes We’ll have driven through the state We’ll have driven through the night
You’d waited. You’d stayed by the little side road for hours. Waiting for Sam to come. To smile down at you and wish you happy birthday. For those hazel eyes to light up as he hugged you and carried you away from your messed up life. To start your lives together. He’d study and go to college, you’d work and write. Everything would be perfect. You waited, but Sam was late.
Pack yourself a toothbrush dear Pack yourself a favorite blouse Take a withdrawal slip Take all of your savings out ‘Cause if we don’t leave this town We might never make it out
You waited, but he never showed. Leaving town without you with no goodbye other than a text saying his brother and father needed his help.
Sam Winchester tore through your town and heart like a hurricane on your 18th birthday. Leaving nothing but rubble behind.
He’d left and you’d never make it out.
