I think what disappoints me the most about Season 2 of Outer Range is that I was really hoping it would inspire me to write more Rhett fics with all of the new content and canon we would get for him.

But literally all we learned is he is allergic to cats 😑

Rhett knows how to be stealthy and go undetected. It’s in his blood. It’s not what he is, but who he is. It’s a part of his upbringing, moving slowly around skittish animals. It takes over most aspects of his life. That's how he’s able to remain undetected in the bar, watching you serve customers behind the bar. Watching you flirt for better tips, he’s impressed by the amount of bills you slip into your jar but not so impressed he can forgive the light caresses and lingering eye contact you make with Luke. 

Lessons need to be learned.

The evening rush quiets and he sees you speak to your boss before slipping out the employee exit at the back of the bar. Break time. But he’s not going to allow you the break you think you deserve.

You don’t hear him when he opens the door seconds behind you. Too busy typing on your phone and he feels his own vibrate in his pocket. He presses his body against your back, hand wrapped around your throat and as you squirm he tightens his grip. 

“It’s just me, honey,” Rhett soothes and you immediately relax.

Big mistake. He’s got you right where he wants you. You’re just unaware of your fate.
