This is my next prompt for @panicfob​‘s #25 Days of Christmas.

Day 14: The Company Holiday Party

Pairing: Sam X Reader

Warnings: Swearing, small acts of violence, threats of violence against Steve. 

Summary: This is a continuation of my Home story. Sam’s been gone for even longer this time. Naturally, you hate every second. But the worst part is that he’s supposed to accompany you to your stupid work holiday party. And now that he’s not going, you really don’t want to.

Word Count: 3328

How do people make long-distance relationships work? This is impossible. 

Your boyfriend, Sam, has been gone for his longest mission to date. 

3 months. 

7 days. 

16 hours. 

And you’ve counted every single second of absolute agony. 

You shake out the towel you’re folding with a grumble. “We won’t be gone that long, baby. You won’t even have time to miss me.” You mock his parting words, lips still tingling at the memory of his searing goodbye kiss. The door clicked shut and you had to look down and make sure you were still dressed.

A/N: So I wrote this yesterday because I was feeling some Sam fluff. I write plenty of Bucky, so I thought I’d switch it up a little. Thank you to @dsakita for this writing prompt.

Pairing: Sam X Reader

Warnings: Language, a little bit of angst, extreme sweet fluff. I think that was one of my favorites to write. 

Summary: Your boyfriend has been gone on a mission for two weeks and you’re miserable, and everyone at work knows it.

Word Count: 3058

Friday couldn’t have gotten here fast enough. For Y/N this week has gone on for literal months, and you’re ready to scream at the next person who asks you another stupid ass question. 

All you want is to go home and curl up on your very comfortable couch with an entire bottle of wine. You need to decompress. You feel like you can’t even breathe.

“Hey, Y/N. Ready for the weekend?” You friend, Ashley, asked, poking her head into your office. 

You stretch, arching your back and it cracks, but the tightness in your chest doesn’t ease. “I’ve never been more ready for something in my entire life.” You mumble and Ashley laughs.

Central Park was crowded; people taking a leisurely stroll, dog walkers, joggers, kids playing, couples and friends having picnics, a news anchor and her crew seemingly reporting on the budding flowers. Liv was already nervous, but the thousands of eyes made her more so.

She knew they weren’t looking at her, but it felt like it. She was alone on a bench, and her make-up was a tad heavier than what someone would typically wear to walk around the park. Her jeans were casual, but the ocean blue sweater and accompanying leather jacket seemed to scream, ‘I’m meeting my date here.’ 

Okay, the outfit did nothing of the sort. She could simply be waiting for a friend. But she couldn’t help feeling that her fidgeting and checking her phone every ten seconds gave her away. She may as well have been holding up a neon sign that said, ‘I’ve been stood up.’

Her phone vibrated in her hand and a bubble of excitement zipped across her stomach. That excitement quickly fizzled to disappointment when she saw the caller ID. She answered her phone with a sigh.

“I thought I could trust you,” she says, bottom lip sticking out in an adorable pout.

She’s not trying to be adorable, her expression is fierce, but that just makes it worse. He should be taking her seriously but Bucky’s not sure he’s ever wanted anything more than to kiss her. He’s staring at that protruding lip and it’s all he can think about. If the circumstances were different, he’d do it. He’d lean in, nip that plush lip with his teeth then kiss away the sting. He’d kiss her until her lips were swollen and she was breathless. Then he’d do it again till she was delirious and light-headed.

She snaps her fingers a millimetre from his eyes, and it’s the disruption in his vision that brings him back to the room.

“You’re supposed to be making amends, Barnes,” she teases, “and here you are doin’ some shady shit to the person who took your ass in, helped you when you needed it most. We’re supposed to be able to trust each other.”

He gives her a crooked smile. “You can trust me, doll.”

But We Lost It 💔

The house is quiet when I get home. It’s late - again. I don’t remember the last time I got home at a decent hour. If it weren’t so late, there would be music playing, or you would be humming while you worked. Your job afforded you the luxury of working from home, but you’d have clocked out hours ago. Yet the silence is eerie. It feels like a harbinger of bad news. 

I toe off my boots and drop my keys into the bowl by the door. The sound of metal on crockery reverberates around the unnatural silence. I feel the panic fizz in my gut, and my senses kick into high gear, preparing me for the unexpected.

Where are you? It’s a little after two a.m. on a Wednesday, and you should be sleeping, but there is a hint of your perfume that’s too fresh for you to be in bed. I pause in the hallway, listening. My memory takes over my senses, and in my mind, I see you clear as day, leaning against the kitchen door frame, ready to greet me the way you used to. You’d give me enough time to plant my feet, and then take off, running the length of the corridor, leaping into my arms as if I’d been gone for months and not hours. A scenario you’ve ensured would never exist because you followed me wherever I was needed or running to.

Dawdling, I drag myself toward the kitchen, remembering that you’d gone with me without complaint when I was stationed on the opposite side of the world for a few months. You worked ridiculous hours to accommodate the time difference, but somehow a hot meal and a clean house were always waiting for me. The house is clean but no home-cooked meal aromas greet my senses. Why would you bother now? I'm never home for dinner. I no longer bother to call to say I’ll be late, and some nights I stay at the compound.

There was a time I used to think you took being my wife more seriously than breathing. But both our priorities seem to have changed as of late.

Pulling the front door open, your greeting is curbed by your sharp inhale. The man standing before you is a sight to behold. It’s rare that you see him in a suit, so you take your time admiring the way the jacket and shirt hug his shoulders and chest, how the trousers fit snugly around his thighs and then taper to skim the tops of his shoes—perfectly tailored to fit his muscular form.
