Now that there is a small chance I got your attention I just wanna say a couple of things. Maybe no one gives two shits but I have to get it off my chest.

I joined this hellhole I don’t even remember how many years ago. The first thing I noticed when I became part of the SPN fandom was that it was filled with love and support for one another.

People helped people. People encouraged people. People supported people. I made acquaintances and dare I say I made friends. With some we have drifted apart. With some we still talk but regardless of that, love and support were the things that kept me here. I don’t consider myself a writer or a creator or anything and the fact that there are people who read the shit I post still astounds me.

But as time goes by, little by little this love, this support and this kindeness that has kept me and many others here is starting to fade. Now what I see more often than not is hate. And hate is a word I use knowing its importance and its weight.

I see and read hate posts, posts wishing other people sickness or even death. Posts that could mess with someone’s peace of mind and mental health if they are a little more on the sensitive side.

I get how someone could feel robbed of their work if it’s not credited. I get how much work goes into a piece of writing, a gif creation or a drawing. But wouldn’t it be better if people talked it out like the logical adults we all claim we are? Wouldn’t it be better not to mess with someone’s mental health by wishing death on them?

I am one of the lucky few who hasn’t got hate from anyone in here. But it pains me to see people I know get it. And what’s more it hurts me to see people doing it in a fandom that has always carried kindness and support as a banner.

Talk to people who you have beef with. Straighten things out. Don’t be mean and don’t be uncivilized. And what’s more important, take into account the fact that these people are human beings you don’t know what they’re struggling with.

I’m sorry for this wall of text. Please carry on and just be kind

Whether you’ve been in the fandom 15 years or 15 seconds you should be able to tell it’s one that builds people up, helps people.

There are a select few that seem to have missed that memo.

We’re here with common interests (that can be rare to find) we should all be helping each other.

If you are a person who has received hate and it’s affected you in any way, I encourage you to reach out to a friend (or me, I’m always happy to make new friends) to talk about it. And remember...

To those of you giving out the hate, take a minute to think about your response to something. There is a real life person behind that tiny square picture you click on, their avatar may not show their face but they have one that’s attached to emotions and struggles. Remember that.

The world is upside down and back to front right now, with no end in sight. We all probably keep thinking “when it’s back to normal, I’ll feel better” - I know I have - but I think normal will look a lot different to what it used too.

This post is so true. Asking for help isn’t weak, having suicidal thoughts isn’t weak, it just means you’ve been strong for too long and using the anology above you need help finding your stick!!
