An ambitious reimagining of Mickey’s Toontown in Disneyland park will debut in early 2023, alongside the new attraction, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway. This news was shared today at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) Expo by Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products, Josh D’Amaro.
Building on the legacy of Mickey’s Toontown, Imagineers are working to create some all-new experiences so families and young children can have more opportunities to play together inside Disneyland park. The beloved Mickey’s Toontown will transform into a vibrant symphony of sights, sounds, and sensations. Focusing on today’s families with young children, Mickey’s Toontown will feature new play experiences, as well as open, grassy play spaces for everyone to unplug. The land will have landscaping for both spontaneous family play and parental relaxation.
“We are so excited to leverage Disney’s powerful brand, develop new stories and share even more magical experiences with our guests,” said D’Amaro. “The newly reimagined Mickey’s Toontown will be a welcoming place where families and younger guests can connect and play together in fun new ways.”
Even with a greener and more spacious Mickey’s Toontown, the land will offer more play activities and attractions than ever before. From active play to tactile play, new experiences will let children play, slide, spin, splash, touch and listen!
One of the new areas coming to Mickey’s Toontown will be CenTOONial Park, the first space guests will see when they enter. This natural space will be anchored by two interactive play experiences.
At the center of CenTOONial Park will be a fountain, designed for play, which will also become a center icon for Mickey’s Toontown. As its base, water tables will invite guests to play with the water and have a sensory experience. At night, the fountain will be brought to life in a unique spectacle based on Paul Rudish and Disney TVA’s The Wonderful World Of Mickey Mouse.

As for Roger Rabbit Car-Toon Spin the attraction will be refreshed with Jessica Rabbit being now a detective and now being the main character of the attraction
Mickey’s Toontown will close in March of 2022 to begin creating these all-new experiences.
If you’re planning a cruise aboard the Disney Wish next summer, you might want to pack your snow gear. We’re headed to the Alps!
The first-ever Disney attraction at sea. Disney shared details about the ride’s original show “Scuba Scramble” — inspired by “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” animated shorts —which will immerse guests in a hilarious underwater adventure with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse through show scenes and special effects.
Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney TVA developed not one, but two brand-new original animated adventures to experience on this wild water ride!
In The First Show s the story goes, Mickey and Minnie are starting their very own seaside excursion company — aptly named “Port Misadventures” — on board the Disney Wish, and adventuresome cruisers will join them on an undersea excursion to Mermaid Lagoon that will inevitably (and hilariously) go awry.
The journey will begin when you board a two-seater ride vehicles and ascend into a magical tunnel that will teleport you into the cartoon world of “Scuba Scramble,” a new animated short that plays out through oversized virtual portholes. Along the way, you’ll encounter curious sea creatures, familiar Disney friends and more than 60 water effects that bring the subaquatic hijinks to life
At the height of the show, you’ll blast out of the tunnel and embark on a wild water ride around the upper decks. First, you’ll zip into the forward funnel through an enclosed tube surrounded by dazzling lighting effects, followed by a quick dash through a dark tunnel that opens up to reveal breathtaking views of the ocean.
You’ll then jet up and down a series of speed blasters as they are propelled toward the grand finale: a soaring loop over the edge of the ship, with clear views down to the deep blue sea. With that, you’ll splash down for a sendoff message from Mickey and Minnie – another successful tour in the books!
Our second show is “Swiss Meltdown,” where Mickey and Minnie will invite you on a mountain sledding excursion that will inevitably (and hilariously) go awry. When the sun comes out and the snow begins to melt, you’ll be off on a frantic dash to the mountaintop while trying to avoid obstacles like avalanches, leaky rock walls and waterfalls — oh, boy! The story is inspired by one of the Emmy Award-winning “Mickey Mouse” shorts, “Yodelberg,” Directed by Disney’s Billy Dilley’s Super Duper Subterranean Summer creator Aaron Springer
Composer Christopher Willis adapted his iconic score for both shows for the attraction.
There are many fun Disney easter eggs to catch during a ride on AquaMouse, such as an appearance by the abominable snowman from the Disneyland attraction Matterhorn Bobsleds. One of my favorite details is that Chip and Dale are hiding in each show, hitchhiking their way to Disney’s private island of Castaway Cay. Good luck trying to spot them amid the 60-plus water blasters, misters and pop jets that you’ll encounter along the way!
I find it so fascinating that The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse and Looney Tunes Cartoons have been the most successful translation of these classic characters to the modern day while keeping the appeal of what made them work to begin with, and they both took the identical approach of, “We’re going back to basics… except we’re also adding a METRIC F*CKTON of Ren and Stimpy influence.” Like that’s not what *I* thought the secret would be but I’ll be darned it WORKS.
The Wonderful World Of Mickey Mouse will continue with new adventures for the upcoming year as Disney+ has renewed the popular series for a second season
Disney+ Trust worthy site: What’s On Disney+ revealed a Interview with one of the series directors Jason Reicher and he revealed that he wished to add Bongo The Bear in his Season 2 episode.
For example, I thought that having the A.I. sing “There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” in a creepy tone would be a fun way to show how things have gone wrong in the house à la HAL 9000 singing “Daisy” in 2001: A Space Odyssey. One thing to note is that this could only work if Mickey sang “Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow” in a joyful tone at the beginning of the short when everything is going well (which Chris Diamantopoulos performed beautifully). As for characters I’d like to see in future cartoons, all I can say is that I wish I had put Bongo the Bear from Fun and Fancy Free in a certain short I worked on for season 2!
Oswald The Lucky Rabbit, Snow White, The Mickey Mouse Club and Indiana Jones make some of the best cameos in this Featurette of classic Disney easter eggs for The Wonderful World Of Mickey Mouse Season 1B!
Disney has announced the second season of new episodes of “The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse” will premiere on Disney+ on Friday 30th July.
Actually this is Season 1B, Disney+ has listed Season 1B as Season 2, i guess they will go for the Netflix route (Voltron Legendary Defender, 3Below) the 20 episode order is actually S1 while the service divides the show as “seasons”
At the moment there has not been any renewal talks but since this shorts and attraction have become so popular i guess we can get a “third” season!
Each seven–minute short is filled with laugh–out–loud comedy, modern settings, timeless stories, new music and the unmistakable classic award–winning art style of the “Mickey Mouse” shorts.
