Simple Ways to Practice Magick Everyday

  1. Say a small prayer or do a short meditation before you get out of bed in the morning.
  2. Write down dreams or visions you had.
  3. Stir your first cup of coffee or tea counterclockwise to banish negativity and bad luck or clockwise to bring positive energy.
  4. Draw daily tarot or oracle cards (you can also use a pendulum) for guidance.
  5. Cleansing yourself and home using sound or smoke.
  6. Ancestor or spirit offerings
  7. Pick out your clothes, shoes, jewelry... ect with intention.
  8. Write a sigil or petition paper and burn it.
  9. Take a ritual shower. You can spice it up with candles, herbs, and crystals, or you can simply step under the water and imagine all the negativity and bad energy washing off you. You can also recite a chant.
  10. Every time you look into the mirror, say an affirmation
  11. Take a walk outside and ground yourself to Mother Earth.
  12. Dance!! Dancing is an excellent way to rise the energy, and it helps with opening the sacral and solar plexus chakra and getting in touch with the inner child.

10 Simple Ways to Worship Mother Nature

These could apply to any earthly god or goddess really, so feel free to borrow any ideas that speak to you! And please tell me about how you worship your deity, I'd love to know 💚🪲

  1. Going for daily, mindful walks. Sometimes I'll listen to music, other times I'll just listen to the world around me.
  2. Wear a lot of greens and browns, as well as recycled and more sustainable fabrics (a lot of my clothes are also thrifted, and I try to avoid overconsumption)
  3. Decorate my space with earthy colours, posters and pieces of the earth - I have crystals, bones, pressed flowers and even rocks and twigs in my room
  4. Learn about nature and the world around me - I am a zoology student so my academic career is also a devotion to Mother Nature but I also learn about what animals I can see locally, I study when and where flowers bloom and how to tell when rain is coming etc
  5. Reconnect with my more primal side - a significant part of my work with Mother Nature is reognising and accepting that humans are animals, and we behave as such; we cannot allow ourselves to become seperate from wilderness. To me, this involves connecting with my intuition and gut feelings, recognising my emotions and desires and working with them
  6. Making and wearing daisy chains or flower crowns
  7. Creating art inspired by the world around me and myself
  8. Caring for animals (that includes other humans) when I can and it's safe: from helping a snail move across the path, to making sure a dying bird can rest peacefully, to giving food and money to the homeless
  9. Loving myself, though it isn't always easy
  10. Spending time outside with my hands in the dirt or streams, speaking with the trees and birds and listening to their replies

“Three hares, joined in a circle by their ears… are found in British, German and many European medieval heritage sites, churches. It is an image reminiscent of pagan religion. The hare is a sacred symbol for the moon in folklore and mythology. It symbolizes fertility, longevity and abundance. Spring goddess Ostara was closely associated with the hare. Nowadays the Easter bunny keeps this tradition alive. (This symbol of leaping hares is said to have a connection with Celtic triskele sign as well.)” source: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1281142431/triple-hare-necklace-leaping-hares?click_key=d92c795199cc549ac4d5399bb0df0851e1f77b6f%3A1281142431&click_sum=b48cc96b&ref=shop_home_active_2&pro=1&frs=1&sts=1

Triskeles, Triquetra, Trinacria are different version of an ancient Indo-European symbol that we can find in different civilizations trough history.

The Triskele symbol, otherwise known as the Triskelion, is a trilateral symbol consisting of three interlocked spirals. It evokes the Celtic interpretation of the three realms of material existence: earth, water, and sky and all their interconnections. The symbol is also thought to represent the three worlds: spiritual, physical, and celestial. Other Trinity connections associated with the triskele are life-death-rebirth, past-present-future, earth-water-sky, and creation-protection-destruction. Triskeles with the left facing spirals recalls the sun symbol of life and rebirth, while the right facing spirals recall the Katabasis, the descending to the underground and the transformation.

The Triquetra is a triangular figure composed of three interlaced arcs that relates to the number three, like the three activities of ancient society: worship, war, and toil, the tripartite division of the world into the realms of Land, Sea, and Sky, the three moon and sun phases. It is also thought to have a connection with ancient triple goddesses.

Trinacria is a triangular symbol composed of three legs bent at the knee. The symbol is anciently closely associated with Sicily and the Greek society. The three legs in the Trinacria Symbol stand for the three promontories of Sicily. In the Symbol of Sicily, the Trinacria also presents the head of Medusa with entwined serpent’s hair and ears of corn. The ears of wheat represent the symbol of the fertility of the land while the head of Medusa refers to the three gorgon and the ancient apotropaic symbol of the gorgoneion. The arrangement of the three legs, suggests a rotation connected with the cycles of Time, Sun, and Moon.

The Three Hares symbol features three hares or rabbits chasing each other in a circle. Each of the ears is shared by two hares, so that only three ears are shown. The symbol is thought to have a range of symbolic or mystical associations with fertility and the lunar cycle. Rabbits and hare have always been associated with the fertility of the earth, the rebirth of spring and the moon phases, so the symbol is also connected with the idea of life, death, and rebirth, with the three phases of women’s life and with the menstrual cycle.

Thanks to those powerful symbolism, these figures have always been used as a protection amulet, as an apotropaic symbol, and as a charm for luck, abundance, and prosperity.

Hi! I’m just getting into witchcraft and I’m really not interested in Wicca. I’ve been having trouble finding resources that don’t focus on Wicca and I would really like some help from some more experienced witches. More information on closed practices and how to avoid them would also be appreciated because I’ve been hearing a lot of conflicting things. Thank!

I don't usually jump into the closed practices debate because I can't tell you which practices are closed to you. Generally, you would be careful approaching practices of a specific ethnic group or community. But keep in mind, there are situations where someone might be invited to participate in a practice, even if they aren't part of the group. The problem often arises with disconnecting that practice and taking it as their own.

i think if it as the "grandmother example." Your friend may invite you over to meet his grandmother and she may offer you cake to eat. It is perfectly fine to chat with grandmother and accept the cake. You may not kidnap grandmother and put her to work in your own cake making factory.

Often the problem is less that someone is learning about something and more that someone is then selling it, promoting it or teaching it - taking ownership and any potential financial benefit away from those who the practice properly belongs to.

Samhain is approaching and the veil is thinning. It’s the time to connect with the ancestors and collective dead. It’s the time to practise scrying or divination.

For your altar, decorate with natural things from your areas to honour the local land spirits and dead. Fallen leaves, acorns etc. carve or decorate a pumpkin for your altar or windowsill. Gather some local grave yard dirt for your altar if permission is given by the graveyard grim.

Practice divination with any tool you are drawn to. Traditionally it’s a time of scrying and all you need is a dark colour bowl filled with water and a darkened room lit only by candlelight (ensuring candles are not near anything flammable and secure in holders). The water you gaze into should be reflected by candlelight, soften your gaze as you look into your scrying bowl, it does take time and practice but stick with it and keep a note book close by for journaling.

You can also practice your tarot technique as well. Do a reading for yourself or even for the energy of the season. Maybe gather some friends together and do a group reading too.

Honour your ancestors by placing photos of passed loved ones on an altar for the ancestors. You could also add graveyard dirt, found animal bones, herbs associated with the dead etc and can be as simple or as fancy as you like. You can even offer the ancestors an offering. I often do one of incense, candle light and blessed water. I often do this around the dark moon and say the following to them during my offerings

On my ancestor altar (above) I have my late husband, my father and grandparents, aunts and uncles and even a passed beloved pet cat!

I give my offerings and say my words which I share with you here.

“Ancestors, I call to you now to be here with me now and always. Accept these offerings with the love they are given. I offer you Earth the grounding element to secure, I offer you water, the spiritual pure element. I offer you incense the air element for communication. I offer you a candle, the fire element for light and warmth. Ancestors accept these simple offerings in love and remembrance. Beloved Ancestors feed on this earth, smoke, water and light to nourish and strengthen you. Blessed be”

You can tailor the words to suit you and your ancestors and doing this on Samhain and every dark moon helps to strengthen the bond.
