The tiara was made by Kell Borup of Per Borup Design last year for the Silver Tales exhibition at the Karen Blixen Museum. Anne-Cathrine Riebnitzsky is a Danish author. I tried to use one of those translator apps during her interview with Billed Bladet and I think she said that the tiara was a gift so I guess it was bought after the exhibition was over.

I kind of like this but I feel like shouldn’t?
I know what you mean! It’s got spiders and things that I shouldn’t like but it’s just so different that I love it. While putting this series together I’ve gotten so tired of all of the really plain diamond tiaras with maybe a few pearls. You haven’t seen most of them yet but there are a ton of them so this was like a breath of fresh air. The jeweler says that it’s inspired by Marie Antoinette’s last days in prison and I can totally see that. It’s just nice to have a tiara with an actual design to it, you know? The feather also comes off so you could wear just the spiderweb part of the tiara and then the feather as a large brooch.

Lydia Courteille’s work is AMAZING! Beautiful and whimsical and absolutely gorgeous.
I agree and we have five more of her tiaras to look forward to in this series! I’ve got them spread out so their colorfulness can break up some of the all diamond monotony.
All of this just makes me love it even more!
Have you posted about the 1910 Boucheron wave tiara before?? It’s so pretty! Are there any other tiaras with designs that are based on pieces of art/paintings??
I think the post on wave tiaras was the first time I’ve talked about it here on Tumblr. It is a stunning piece and I love how three dimensional it is, you can really feel the movement of the waves. It was made in 1910 by Boucheron and there’s no information about who it was made for so it was likely a stock piece. The only photos we have of it are from the time is was made and it hasn’t been seen since meaning it probably doesn’t exist anymore.
And here’s The Great Wave off Kanagawa by Hokusai which is the artwork the tiara is based on.
I can’t think of any other tiaras that were based on a particular piece of art but I feel like after I post this I will remember one.
