It’s not a reboot… it’s a comeback! Chip ’n Dale Rescue Rangers, TaleSpin, Darkwing Duck, DuckTales, and Adventures of the Gummi Bears return—with more classic 1990s adventure comics based on beloved TV cartoons from The Disney Afternoon package! From Disney Adventures and its Gen-X sister magazines come pulse-pounding sagas! In “The Count Roquefort Case,” the villainous Fat Cat wants to plunder the medieval legacy of Monterey Jack’s European forebears! Then “The Curse of Flabbergé” sends Scrooge McDuck and Launchpad McQuack to the cranky country of Brutopia, where heroic freedom fighters help in the hunt for a priceless treasure! And in “The Kitty Kat Kaper” and “Cat in a Hot Tin Suit,” Darkwing Duck fights his first-ever battles with the world’s greatest criminal mind… Fluffy! Plus TaleSpin, the Gummi Bears and more!
During an Interview about The Boys with the A.V Club Seth Rogen was asked about that personal touch part of what you decide to pursue alongside the projects that Point Grey has achieved, Rogen talked about future stuff that he’s proud of and what it feels to reboot some old 80s properties that he loved as a kid including Darkwing Duck.
AVC: I wanted to ask about your producing, given that you have so many projects in development. How much is that personal touch part of what you decide to pursue?
SR: Yeah, we really do try. Even The Boys, which I don’t have a ton to do with on a day-to-day basis. Like the reason that show exists is because me and Evan went to a comic book store, saw the comic, picked it up, bought it, read it, loved it. And then spent the next decade trying to make it! But it was purely borne out of, like, an afternoon we spent together, you know? And so it’s all borne out of our interests. Ninja Turtles is something I loved as a kid. We have a lot more things like that that we’re working on, this Darkwing Duck show and things like that. That becomes a fun part of the challenge: How do you infuse more and more of yourself into your work? I think the more of yourself you put in, the more people like it.
However the terror that flaps at night will fly again on a new series of comics by Dynamite and they unveiled not only the team behind the comic but also a preview and an amazing set of comic covers.
The Series of comics by Dynamite will debut on January 4 2023,the team consist of Amanda Deibert as writter with Carlo Cid Lauro as Artist and Jeff Eckleberry as letters.
Amanda Deibert had a background in television, animation, and comics, including Netflix’s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, Wonder Woman, Star Wars, Warner Bros Animation’s DC Super Hero Girls etc..
“Darkwing Duck was huge when I was a kid, and I am thrilled to help introduce the fun, humor, and action-packed mystery to a new generation!” said Deibert. “Let’s get Dangerous!”
Editor Nate Cosby added, “Fans of the original TV series are in for a total treat, because Amanda and Carlo are conjuring up a hilarious, thrill-filled adventure series that’s directly connected with the classic feel of the show, but 100% accessible for new readers!”
David Nakayama’s cover shows the titular Darkwing Duck, also known as Drake Mallard, standing atop a gargoyle while dressed for a night of superhero antics. Mirka Andolfo’s cover, meanwhile, sees Drake embracing his inner Dark Knight with a very Batman-like pose. Artwork from Lesley “Leirix” Li shows Darkwing Duck utilizing his grappling hook, while additional covers come from Trish Forstner (My Little Pony, Transformers), Jacob Edgar (Death to the Army of Darkness), Lauro and George Kambadais (Dark Crisis: The Deadly Green).
Dynamite also revealed plans to reprint a number of past Darkwing Duck facsimile editions and graphic novels. “The hard-to-find 1991 limited series released by Disney Comics with contributions by John Blair Moore and others will soon be accessible again to fans and collectors of classic Disney comics,” the publisher said at the time.
Darkwing Duck #1 - F.O.W.L Play
February 2023
The first story, subtitled “F.O.W.L. Play” kicks off a showdown between Darkwing and his dastardly arch nemesis Megavolt. He’s taken out everyone’s phones, which is a pretty cataclysmic outcome for the citizens of St. Canard. Alongside his ally Launchpad McQuack and some unexpected help from Gosalyn, the squad will take on Megavolt. But the latest escapade makes Mallard question the entire superhero business and consider retiring. How long can he go without meting out justice?”
“He is the terror that flaps in the night… He is the ferocious fowl who plucks the evil eye from the face of foul play. He is Darkwing Duck! By night he vigilantly defends his city of St. Canard from the dastardly, devilish demons who would wage wanton war with his trademark costume and gadgets, and lurks through the shadows, striking fear in the heart of the criminal underworld. By day he’s known as the mild-mannered Drake Mallard, father to his adorable adopted daughter Gosalyn. Can Darkwing successfully juggle his two separate lives, all while looking incredibly cool and impossibly handsome? Readers will have to tune in on January 4 to find out!

It’s been ages since we heard something about the upcoming Darkwing Duck Reboot, we where expecting some news about it on the 30th Anniversary of the og show on September 6 and Disney+ Day but nothing.
However since then many people have spoken about it’s status like The Ghost And Molly McGee co-creator and original Darkwing Duck writter Bob Roth mentioning “we are aware of the reboot but we are too busy on Molly McGee to work on it” and later Jim Cummings on a convention on September mentioning that “he hasn’t been called” for the reboot and hints on the Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers Movie Poster on Disney+ Day.
However recently on the What’s In My Head Podcast, a podcast interviewing animation industry people like Craig McCracken and Sabrina Alberghetti etc.., Tad Stones the creator of the OG Darkwing Duck was invited, check the whole podcast to get a inside look at Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers and Darkwing Duck days from the begginings of Disney TVA.
However in the Interview, the question about the reboot was asked with Tad Stones mentioning that “he is doing creative consultant job on the reboot despite his retirement”

Welp we could probably get news on the reboot probably this Thursday since its the 31 anniversary of the Darkwing Duck “sneak preview on Disney Channel” or probably on May the month where the Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers debuts.
The Darkwing Duck Reboot has Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg as executive producers and the project is produced via Point Grey Pictures and Disney Television Animation.
This weekend we saw new stuff from Disney however TVA wasn’t spoken but during the past week, some people from the internet found about another rejected Disney TVA series this time for Disney Junior based on the Beverly Hills Chihuahua Franchise
Doing a bit of research one of the show’s designers called Genevieve Tsai unveiled some details, that the show was going to be for Disney Junior and Disney Afternoon veteran Tad Stones served as executive producer and series showrunner with animation services by Bento Box Entertaiment!
According to the artist the series unfortunately fell through due to timing, lucky some people from The Lost Media Wiki found the series pilot animated by Hong Ying Animation
