Making my own magical girl series (Read Descript)

This is my first concept art of the main character of my series that I've been planning for a year now called, "Starlit Adventures: Rise of Miss Moondance" (Not Final Title). These designs will be used until further redesigning in the future.

The story is about a shy teenage girl named Nora, who is having problems with her self esteem and anxiety that affects her life. Despite her problems, she still remains to be kind with the heart of gold. Even though her parents help her with her issues, she still she wish to be normal like everyone else.

One night, Nora discovers an injured woman who was fallen from outer space. She is the princess from the Silvermoon Kingdom, who got badly wounded from the Intergalactic war invasion from the wrath of Medea (Main Villain), who got critically injured and fled with her minions after the princess released her final blow and fell to the earth. The princess was already very weak and won't be able to survive. So the princess's final act is to give her powers to Nora

and chose her to be the protector of the earth and the moon, once she is ready. She reassures her that she will be trained by someone, and putted her trust on her and believe that she can do it. After, that the princess rest in peace and became a garden of flowers that resembles the stars.

And so, Nora's gifted powers magically transforms her into an adult superheroine using the powers from the "Space genie", who the princess mentioned to be her mentor and trains her to protect the earth from evil invaders while also facing struggles through adolescence and learning how to be confident and become a proper woman.

If you got interested in the story, feel free to follow me and stay tune for more content

just watched Unicorn Academy’s first four episodes, and i just have to ask

What is with horse girl shows getting the One Male™️ with em? it’s great, I love it, perfect subversion of superhero media but-

does this mean horse girls is the opposite of superheroes?

cause if so, I now need a show where superheroes are just fighting horse girls. like, the villains are the one spewing out the morals while the superheroes are just like… “shut up!” it’d be great. and funny

Your union idea for superheroes unions show that there is really no such thing as superhero fatigue . It’s that corporations don’t want to take risks anymore with new ideas. You can still make a good superhero movies but do something interesting. The same thing can be said about any genre. Btw, what your opinions on why the MCU is no longer what it use to be?

Avatar

Funny thing is that I have been told by mutual @princess-unipeg superhero unions were a thing back then.

As for your opinion on Superhero Fatigue, I'd say it's a relative thing, and personally, I think it's a very real thing because I can feel it in my bones. And it's not just the MCU that's giving me migraines; BnHA, Invincible and The Boys are to blame as well, with their maintenance of Status Quo, overused tropes and clichés, plus the usage of emotional blackmail as a cheap tactic to make us care for the worst types of people.

I only care about two Superhero series as of late: SpiderVerse and Shy. Everything else is garbage.

Not to mention how I am tired of the MCU getting all of the credits for carrying the Cinematic Universe patent, when other franchises such as Super Mario Bros., Pretty Cure and Hanna-Barbera have been doing this for decades.

And the thing that separates them all from the MCU, is that they feel more like anthologies, and that's why they work so much better; you don't need to consume every single product to understand how things work and the audience's intelligence isn't relentlessly mocked with pretentiousness.

The MCU should have died at Endgame. Like, it's right there in the title. It's also where plenty of cracks were starting to show, such as racial/sexual prejudice, secrecy that goes into bordeline paranoia, clickbait tactics, overuse of CGI and death of creativity/originality.

That's how low the bar is at, fam.

What are your least/best favorite things about western superheroes? And what are your thoughts on superhero deconstructions? And what would you do to fix this genre?

Most Fave Things About Supers:

  • Plenty of them are seasoned and experienced adults (you may see children from time to time);
  • They aren't afraid to resort to physical fights;
  • How versatile and diverse they can be;
  • Their history have jewish values;
  • The whole entire existence of Megamind.

Least Fave Things About Supers:

  • The people that are in charge of writing their comics seem to hate comics more than anything;
  • How heavily militarized they are;
  • Most of them are afraid to be campy and cheesy nowadays;
  • The "Evil Superman" trope;
  • The whole entire existence of the MCU. 'Nuff said.

How could I deconstruct the Superhero genre?

That's easy: Superheroes unionizing!

Just imagine, a Superhero who has spent a large chunk of their career working for the government, believing that they were doing the right thing; but then, they eventually discover the government's dirty secrets, thus leading them to challenge the uppercrusts and sacrifice their fame and status by helping minorities and combat injustices that often go unnoticed.

Along the way, the Superhero either recieves support from their peers who are just as disillusioned as they are, or is confronted by others who want to maintain their comfortable and glamorous lifestyle, thus resulting into the birth of two factions of Superheroes, who are always butting heads with eachother.

Oh, and unlike the MCU and Boku no Hero Academia, the Status Quo is actually challenged, and societal changes are visible and felt by everyone strongly.

Funny thing though they did an actual comic on superhero unions from far back when.

Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice of Batman in many notable works, has sadly passed away at the age of 66. He will forever be the voice of Gotham's greatest protector for me, as I'm sure he will be for many others. He positively impacted my childhood and brought life to the most meaningful and compassionate Batman since the character's inception. Rest in peace, hero. You were vengeance. You were the night. You were Batman.

And then we have Sam Wilson

That scene was so refreshing to me. Sam’s speech was in the last episode so we didn’t get to see him follow up on it but he clearly indicated that he would & I’d love a season 2 so we could see that.

This is T'challa erasure. He agreed, told his father he was wrong, then opened up Wakanda to help black people around the globe.

DOO CENTRAL'S FUN FACT FRIDAYS: DYNOMUTT, DOG WONDER

This week’s Fun Fact Friday will work backwards into Scooby and the gang’s history of teaming up with the Blue Falcon and Dynomutt!

For those who don’t know those names, Blue Falcon and Dynomutt are the two superhero main characters in the 1970s Hanna-Barbera cartoon “Dynomutt, Dog Wonder”. This show was broadcast alongside The Scooby-Doo Show in the mid-1970s under the name The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour. The Blue Falcon, a Batman-type superhero, fights crime alongside his robotic dog Dynomutt! Dynomutt had all sorts of technological and goofy gadgets equipped to his body that would aid in catching criminals!

Fans may only know Blue Falcon and Dynomutt from their team-up with Mystery Inc. in the recent direct-to-video movie Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon! In this movie, Blue Falcon and Dynomutt team up with Mystery Inc. to defeat Mr. Hyde, the superheroes’ archenemy who is out to ruin the comic book convention the gang is attending.

Another time that they teamed up with Mystery Inc. was in the 40th episode of Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated titled “Heart of Evil”. Radley Crown (The Blue Falcon) works as a security guard at Quest Labs (referencing Johnny Quest) with his dog. The lab is attacked by a humanoid dragon robot (created by evil Dr. Zin) that is in search of one of Dr. Quest’s inventions. The robot left but seriously harmed Crown’s dog. Crown begged Dr. Quest to help save his dog’s life and he agreed. Dr. Quest used the Quest X Power Source (the invention the dragon is after), to power and revive Crown’s dog. Five years later, the two become crime fighters calling themselves Dynomutt and the Blue Falcon. The rest of the episode is the two teaming up with Mystery Inc. to defeat the Dragon before it destroys Crystal Cove!

The superheroes can also be seen playing on Scooby’s team The Scooby Doobies in the All-Star Laff-a-Lympics!

The first time, however, that the teams crossed paths were actually in the very first episode of the Dynomutt, Dog Wonder series titled “Everyone Hyde!” which aired in 1976! The duo along with Mystery Inc. try to solve the mystery of Mr. Hyde, a mad scientist that is wreaking havoc on Big City turning all its citizens including the mayor into Hyde freaks!

Mystery Inc. would make two more appearances in the Dynomutt, Dog Wonder cartoon series. They helped the duo capture their foes in the second episode titled “What Now, Lowbrow?’ and in the tenth episode titled "The Wizard of Ooze”.

(Let it be noted that I didn’t know these three episodes included Scooby-Doo up until a few days ago so they’re actually not included in my count of Scooby-Doo episodes if you feel they count)

Scooby-Doo has had quite a history of teaming up with these two superheroes that defend Big City! This history has traced back to the very first story of Dynomutt and Blue Falcon! The two dogs both are goofy and fun personality-wise and definitely work well together when fighting crime!

Hopefully Scooby-Doo! Mask of the Blue Falcon won’t be the last time we see these two Hanna-Barbera dog icons team up to save the day!
