Shows you should save physically immediately

  • Over the Garden Wall -- It's being pulled from HBO Max on August 31 and knowing HBO, there's a chance it'll be pulled sooner. *I have now made a Google Drive of all the episodes of OTGW. Please, please, please, PLEASE, save these on a physical device.
  • The Owl House -- Disney has tried to bury this show many times (giving it a weird release schedule, cutting the budget, etc) and has even cancelled the show. Also, Disney+ is going to nuke their catalogue soon and I doubt TOH will survive*I have now also saved all the episodes of TOH. Click here for the posts with all of the episodes
  • Amphibia -- I know less about the behind the scenes BS than TOH but Amphibia was screwed over by Disney mainly by poor promotion. Also since one of the protagonist is openly bisexual*, like TOH, I really can't imagine this would survive.*Amphibia has also been saved. Go here for the post with all the episodes.
  • Steven Universe -- Cartoon Network cancelled Steven Universe and gave it a weird release schedule, it has also just been pulled from HBO Max.
  • Gravity Falls -- Once again, Disney+ is going to nuke their catalogue at some point in the future and between Wendy being canonically bi, Sheriff Blubs and Deputy Durland being in a relationship, and Alex Hirsch (being the amazing man that he is) constantly calling Disney out on their BS, I imagine that Disney would be more than willing to nuke Gravity Falls. *I’ve also saved Gravity Falls now go to the main post here to see all the episodes.

and most importantly

  • Every single show, book, game, fanfiction, movie, etc you've ever loved

We now know that at any moment's notice, streaming services can and will just nuke their catalogue without hesitation. If it's digital, it can be removed and there's a likely chance you'll never see it again.

So, please take some time to save anything you love on an external device. It could be a box set (it can be official or fan-made one), a USB, or anything.

If you have a physical copy of something, it's yours forever and no one can take that away from you.

*Edit because I’ve seen some confusion about this. Read this again, it’s “one of the protagonists” not “the protagonist.” Sasha is the one who’s bi, Anne’s sexuality hasn’t been confirmed.

Also in addition to this, people have reblogged this to say Steven Universe is still on HBO. Since I don’t have HBO, I’ve been going off of what people have been saying and I’ve seen it mentioned that HBO was taking off SU. You should still save it though.

*Edit 2 if any of the links here don’t work, check the original post as I might’ve changed/updated them. If that still doesn’t work, send me an ask or DM I’ll give them to you.

Is the steven universe anime a magical girl show?

No it’s about geno- I mean, Happy Fun Times!

The Steven universe anime sounds intense

No, it’s not! It’s very innocent!

I watched madoka magica you cant trick me

Watch JewelPet instead. That one really does have Happy Fun Times, AND is about gemstones. Also, it's by Sanrio.

And even though it had more of a witchy theme to it, Mahoutsukai PreCure also featured gemstones, refered as "Linkle Stones" in-Universe (Diamond, Emerald, Ruby, Topaz, Sapphire, etc.). Plus, the manga is even gayer than the anime.

Or, if you don't wanna talk anime, then maybe watch Trollz. It's also about gemstones.

And lastly but not least important, another non-japanese option would be Princess Starla/Gwenevere and the Jewel Riders. It's also about gemstones, but it has its touch of fantasy.

Trust me, I'm quite the enthusiast of the Magical Girl genre; I know my stuff.

P.S.: I've heard some shady shit about the creator of Houseki no Kuni/Land of the Lustrous, so it'd be great if you guys didn't supported it, not even as a joke/dare.

Anonymous asked:

I know you dislike Steven universe but how would you rewrite it? I also wonder what happens if Steven was a girl instead?

You now, I was chatting with a friend about this a while ago!

I’m not sure how would I rewrite a entire show (specially a show like SU, because holy cow, it’s chock-full with problematic stuff!), but I surely would:

  1. Make it less about Steven and more about the Crystal Gems;
  2. Rewrite the CGs to be actually competent (Pearl is sane and not predatory, Garnet isn’t reduced to extra due to her fusion, and Amethyst gets her arc finished properly and ON-SCREEN);
  3. Make sure that the story ends with the Diamond Authority being SHATTERED for their hideous crimes!

And I’m actually happy that you touched on the subject of of “Steven as a girl”, because I need to complain about something.

You know, there has been recently launched a book about Pink’s journey, how she became Rose, and later gave up her physical form to bring Steven into the world... and the book is “dedicated“ to people who are trans/of non-comforming gender.

And this is problematic, because the book is straight up comparing gay people to actual ditactors! It’s one crazy metaphorical parkour to AVOID having a legit trans character!

And besides, the whole trans!Steven concept goes waaaay back, waaaay before the Pink/Rose revelation!

Like how Stevonnie looks quite feminine, even though they’re NB. And when Steven sang “Giant Woman” in the eponymous episode; it felt like he desired something. And when he wore a dress in Sadie’s Song, and was totally okay with it.

If I had my say on the matter, I’d make Steven transistion into a girl, and make it what Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Cling did:

“I’m not Steven anymore, I’m Nora.”

Easy and simple as 1-2-3. No metaphors, no comparisons, nothing. Just a character who happens to be trans.

Yeah I sorta wished they went for the shattered angle on the diamonds. Like have the diamonds accidentally destroy each other and fuse them together to become a healing source for all gems. Have them become a shattered and fused abomination in a form of poetic irony.

Sony Pictures Animation is in development on a new fantasy-adventure feature from Matt Braly, the creator of Disney’s multiple Emmy-nominated animated series, Amphibia.

Braly comes to the as-yet-untitled project after working for the studio as a storyboard artist on The Mitchells vs the Machines, the Academy Award-nominated feature produced by Lord Miller, which was released on Netflix in 2021.

Drawing on his own cultural background and personal history, the film tells the story of a young boy who goes on an emotional journey to a fantastical world of Thai spirits where he hopes to have his illness cured. Braly will direct from his script written with Rebecca Sugar (Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe).
