Baskerville the Hound was originally created to be Rowlf the Dog's foil, but interestingly enough, his name and design were both originally considered for Rowlf.

The first Muppet created by Jim Henson to rise to stardom was Rowlf the Dog in 1962 for a Purina Dog Chow commercial. The ads were aired in Canada from 1962-1963. Rowlf was also one of the first Muppets designed by Don Sahlin.
