i'm so deep into precure fandom that i thought that one question was referring to cure peach and i was just like ????
No, no! We were talking about Princess Peach! Y'know, from Super Mario Bros.! You see, she's got her own solo video game recently: Princess Peach Showtime!
She's got a transformation sequence and everything:
And this is huge, because of two things:
- Last time we've had a solo Peach game was in 2005 (Super Princess Peach, for the Nintendo DS). That's a gap of NINETEEN years;
- PPS is a MAINLINE game. Not a spinoff, MAINLINE. Meaning that most likely there will be more games where Peach will be more pro-active and be the protagonist in her own unique way.
While I think it's nice that Princess Peach is getting more attention, I certainly wouldn't be surprised if her sudden jump into protagonism was motivated by Nintendo growing tired of the fake fans whinning and moaning about her portrayal in the SMB movie...
...like, dude. Her being an active hero won't erase her femininity or assassinate her character. Plus, she's a PRINCESS. A MONARCH. She RULES A KINGDOM. She HAS to be an active participant.
