Infinity Train Book 2 Theory:

But that said, a certain shot of MT caught my eye — specifically, this scene from right after One-One’s prerecorded message, where he talks about the numbers, escape, and companionship:

This shot appears to mirror (ba dum tss) countless other shots of Tulip looking at her hand in Book 1, except now, MT doesn’t have a number of her own. And given how this scene is preceded by One-One talking about getting numbers to zero and getting off the train, I think the lack of a number might actually be why MT looks so unhappy.
After all, as far as we know (and presumably, as far as MT knows), no number means no way to escape; therefore MT is stuck on the train for the rest of her life, however long that may be. It’s not clear if the Flecs can leave the train themselves, but if they can’t, then getting off the train would be just what MT needs to escape them for good… except her lack of a number means she’s stuck there forever, no matter how much she grows as a person.
Or perhaps, so MT thinks, until Alan Dracula and Jesse come along and with their companionship and support, she finds a unique way of her own to exit? Owen has tweeted that the relationship between Jesse and MT is at the core of Book 2, so…
[ID: a screenshot of a Twitter exchange. Bryson T. asks: “Is Mirror Tulip the central character of Season 2? Or are you trying to take a more ensemble approach to S2?” and Owen Dennis replies: “She’s one of two central characters. She and Jesse and their relationship is very important.” end ID]
…will MT’s arc be about getting off the train to escape the Flecs for good?
(Maybe that has to do with why she ends up in the wasteland outside the train in Episode 8!)
Of course, I could definitely be reading too much into this. The shot of MT frowning at her hand may just be a contemplative moment thinking about how she’s a loner who’s got it in her head that she needs to find her path alone, much like she tells Alan Dracula at first. But in either case, I definitely feel confident predicting that one of the main themes of this season will revolve around asking your friends for help and support.
