Imagine at 3AM comfortably rest for work for the next day when your sister wakes you up to tell that Stan Lee had passed away. You just have to admit that a sad day for a cinephile will come.
Lee is arguably the most recognizable figure in comic book history. His influence that span for decades will never be underestimated. He will be missed, now that he is with his Creator, along with his wife and Steve Ditko.
In honor of the Marvel legend, let me count down my pick for his best cameos, both MCU and non-MCU, and alphabetically arranged.
Best Stan Lee Appearances (Movies and TV)
1. Avengers: Age of Ultron
His first Avengers appearance is more memorable, but taking up a drinking challenge in Age of Ultron? Excelsior indeed.
2. Big Hero 6
Stan Lee is an official Disney character with his post-credits appearance as Fred’s dad, who is a former superhero.
3. Captain America: Civil War
Just the payoff line as a FedEx delivery guy puts this in the book. “Are you Tony Stank?”
4. Deadpool
Of course his appearance as a club DJ in Deadpool has to be here. Thinking this may what Lee had been doing off set.
5. Doctor Strange
While not particularly special, Lee is seen reading the book The Doors of Perception by Aldous Huxley. If you don’t know about the book, search for it and you will get why.
6. Fantastic Four (2005)
The Fantastic Four movies are never that good. (He didn’t even appear in Fant4stic) But his appearances in the Tim Story movies are strokes of genius. First, he was his own creation Willie Lumpkin.
7. Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
Next, he appeared as himself as a nod to the Fantastic Four Annual #3 issue.
8. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
His appearance as an astronaut officially confirms Stan Lee being a Watcher.
9. Hulk
Along with Lou Ferrigno’s cameo, they are bright spots in this dull Hulk movie.
10. Iron Man
Lee admits this is his personal favorite cameo. So, it gets the nod.
