It’s the Year of The Dragon
Even though it may be cliché for the main kid in The Nine Realms to be a descendant of Hiccup and Astrid, I honestly hope that’s the case. It gives me so much comfort to think that Hiccup and Toothless shared such a deep bond that even after a thousand years, their families found each other again.
This cannot be a coincidence 🤩
Found this in the article on Collider. The dragon is definitely a descendant of Toothless and the Light Fury. However, I wonder if this kid is a Hiccup and Astrid descendant.
Official synopsis (from Collider article):
Set 1,300 years after the events of How To Train Your Dragon, dragons are now just a legend to the modern world. When a geological anomaly opens up an immense, miles-deep fissure in the Earth’s surface, scientists from all over the world gather at a new research facility to study the mysterious phenomenon. Soon a group of misfit kids, brought to the site by their parents, uncover the truth about dragons and where they’ve been hiding -- a secret they must keep to themselves to protect what they’ve discovered.
Happy 20th anniversary to Shrek and to Dreamworks first dragons
Stoick’s Statue Carvings
Here’s all of the art made for Stoick’s statue:
The carvings seem to represent a timeline of the turning points in Stoick’s life. (Thanks to @jk-and-melbourne and @learning-to-fly-on-my-own for pointing it out!)
ok this is GREAT. I’ve wanted to know what the carvings were behind hiccstrid’s wedding alter foREVER cuz you can clearly see multiple designs. HOW MUCH DO I ADORE THAT THESE WERE MOMENTS in STOICK’s LIFE. Not as much Hiccup’s life BUT STOICK. Like, Hiccup’s absolute LOVE for his father. His raising up his father’s memory as the immortal part of Berk’s history. NOT HIS OWN. But HIS FATHER. It was HIS FATHER that changed the tribe (he was out on a coma y’know). It was HIS FATHER who had the authority to actually change what Hiccup tried to convince people to do. It was STOICK THE VAST who had a whole lifetime of entrenched Viking experience and responsibility to the old Viking ways… and it was THAT MIND which changed. HE enabled Hiccup to live the life he believed was right. Hiccup changed his father’s mind, but it was his father who changed the tribe. And Hiccup is honoring that, because he’s THAT selfless.
Sorry, I had to add an important part of the statue missed above from the art book. This appears to be Stoick holding Hiccup and thanking Toothless for saving him. Cue the tears!!!! 😭 😭 Thank you Dreamworks for the amazing thought that went into everything.
Al right, y’know what? This is DreamWorks’ version of telling us that the entire HTTYD franchise is Hiccup’s memoirs, like the books. Him telling the story, us finding it on ancient stone plaques and books (above), and putting it together to make the story we love today. Matching the scenes here with interpretations of our own. This is Hiccup’s history and the legacy of his tribe.
Stupid smile….

I can’t believe people are still confused about this.
If that’s true can we call ourselves the Dragonistas? or Viqueens? or is that pushing it?
Your face sir
My fave coming across the latest HTTYD sequel stuff.
It’s the last episode of Defenders of Berk and the last time we’ll see our babies as babies tonight.
Here come the feels!
(BTW I know there was a outburst about it being 100 days left yesterday, but the countdown on Berk’s Grapevine counts hours too. So on June 12th, it will say 0 days and so many hours left. I just wanted to make that clear before you ask me why I’m saying 100 days now.)
Can't wait for not only the movie but the merchandise tie-ins, upcoming movie shorts and the season finale of Defenders of Berk. I haven't given Dreamworks much thought since the whole Shrek thing. Their recent CGI movies rely too much on pop culture and crude jokes to keep it interesting. It wasn't until I saw the tv series of the movie that I bounced back to watching something of Dreamworks (other then Kung-Fu Panda). All the cliches are there but the realism within the characters and the majesty of those fierce dragons filled me with so much joy. I might feel heartache if something sad happens at the near the end of the trilogy.
Abusive Parenting and Stoick the Vast: What Abuse Is, and Why Stoick Doesn't Do It
I’ve been seeing quite a few posts going around for the past couple of days decrying Stoick as an abusive father, and as someone who has experience with an abusive parent, I figured I’d chime in. Of course, not all cases are exactly the same and there are different kinds of abuse, but even examining the different kinds of abuse there are, we don’t see Stoick commit any of them. Furthermore, we do not see behavior from Hiccup indicating that he has lived anything other than a good life, even if he has had trouble finding a place to fit in.
So without further ado, I’m going to go ahead and type up a little (read: long) essay on all of the reasons why Stoick is not an abusive parent. Let’s do it to it.
Good to know that there are fans who understand characters more correctly.
