Props To Don Messick

Now that Warner Brothers (now calling themselves WarnerMedia) have recently announced that the studio will be producing a reboot of WB/Amblin’s Tiny Toon Adventures

I’ve been reading several comments from TTA fans who are now sad because the character of Plucky Duck will have to be recast due to the passing of Plucky’s voice actor, Joe Alaskey (1952-2016).

R.I.P.

…And while Mr. Alaskey’s passing due to Cancer is indeed unfortunate, none of these fans ever acknowledge another voice actor from Tiny Toons who passed away in 1996; the voice of Hamton J. Pig, Don Messick. Mr. Messick passed away before Joe Alaskey did, yet no one ever acknowledges him. You know what I think of that?

Let me tell you Millenials something…

Don Messick is a LEGEND!

Mr. Messick may just be the voice of Hamton Pig to you, but the man has been doing voice over work since the 1960s. Don Messick is right up there with Frank Welker, Mel Blanc and Daws Butler, and if you don’t who they are, look them up!

Mr. Messick was the original voice of Scooby Doo…

Dr. Benton Quest (the father of Jonny Quest)…

He voiced Astro on The Jetsons…

And Papa Smurf.

He even played a self parody when he played fictional voice actor Wally Wooster on an NBC sitcom called The Duck Factory in 1984.

It’s fine to mourn the loss and remember Joe Alaskey when you think of Tiny Toons, but when you do don’t forget about Don Messick.

Put some respect on his name!

Don Messick - Scooby Doo/Scrappy Doo, Boo Boo Bear/Ranger Smith, Dr. Bentley Quest, Papa Smurf, Muttley, variety of Hanna-Barbera characters, ect.
