Disney Princesses with Service Dogs

Here’s a project we did a while ago…raising awareness for service dogs, and the lack of disability rep in pop culture. Beginning by showing the possible invisible disabilities Disney princesses could have!

Our art has been shared a lot of times without credit, so please help our original post be shared (instead of copied ones). Please message us if you see uncredited copies floating around.

An autistic Tiana with her service pup! Her dog isn’t tasking here, but can provide harm interruption for damaging stims, grounding during sensory overload, and more.

Pocahontas/Matoaka with a diabetic alert dog! He can sniff drops or spikes in blood sugar and retrieve medication.

(This was based off of dozens of suggestions from native SD handlers who wished to raise awareness for the genetic probability of diabetes in their race.)

Cinderella with Fibromyalgia. Her sweet lab is helping take her shoes off, to prevent a bad flare after dancing! 

(And yes, some people with fibro can enjoy nights of dancing.)

Rapunzel with PTSD and Dissociative Identity Disorder (definitely plausible with her trauma). Her big pup is doing a dissociation alert and then providing tactile stimulation for grounding.

Belle with Generalized Anxiety Disorder! Her pup is doing a blocking task, and can alert her to anyone approaching from behind.

Sleeping Beauty with Narcolepsy (and Cataplexy)! Her poodle, Spindle, helped her fall gently to avoid head injury and can wake her through licking, also helping her brace to stand.

Here’s Snow White with a (kinda large whoops) allergy alert dog. She’s deathly allergic to apples! Here, he’s tasking and checking her food for allergens.

(At the request of brachycephalic service dog handlers, we wanted to demonstrate that they can do scent work reliably too.)

Okay…he’s not a princess but we also have Captain Hook with anxiety and PTSD (this was a special request featuring a real service dog).

“Standby Me” - Here’s the complete lineup of all the Disney girls from my Disneybound inspired series. I like looking at them like this because it’s like having a visual snippet of Disney animation history :) 

I am experimenting with a poster of this at San Diego Comic Con next week, and if all goes well I’ll put it up on my online store as well.

I drew this and was DETERMINED to finish this and have it ready before today.

It’s been 90 years since this cartoon mouse has been a huge icon in the animated industries but one iconic character that’s for all ages.

Today’s the day since he first appeared in his first cartoon named: “Steamboat Willie”

As an artist and a kid who grew on seeing many kinds of cartoons I will never forget how much of a Disney fan I tend to be and glad that it’s still remembered. Thanks again Walt Disney for bringing a character to life and one that became the icon that had changed many people’s view of entertainment and animation.

Disney Princesses and fashion of the year they were released

CGI-era princesses! And last ones for now, I may draw more Disney girls in the future, but for now I’m pretty tired of drawing flowers and ruffles.
