Cartoon Network Friday Spotlight- Dexter’s Laboratory- “Mock 5″

Once upon a time, Cartoon Network introduced us to the 1st 13th Annual Fancy Anvil Awards Show, an entertaining spoof of award shows, where you could vote at home on their website for a few awards. The big award went to Best Cartoon, which included nominations for the iconic Powerpuff Girls episode “Meet the Beat-Alls”, incomparable Looney Tunes shorts “I Love to Singa” and “What’s Opera, Doc?”, an episode of Goober and the Ghost Chasers, for some reason, and this winning Speed Racer spoof.

Is it the most deserving choice? Probably not- it’s very hard to compete against Avery and Jones, especially at arguably their most beloved- but it’s a hilarious short that works even if you aren’t familiar with the source material. It’s a blast to see the character’s vocals so impossibly sped up for the silliest exposition. It’s a blast from start to finish.

ok so since Gorillaz and Aqua Teen Hunger Force have been proven to be in the same universe through Powerpuff Girls, I wanna try to see what else fits into this animation universe thats forming.

Rules: 

Right off the bat we can add in all of the Hanna-Barbera cartoons as well through Aqua Teen’s background stealing. Through those random barbera shows they borrow the settings of, we can add Harvey Birdman Attorney At Law AND Space Ghost Coast to Coast to this map, which should cover any Barbera cartoons missed by Aqua Teen.  

Harvey provides one special link actually, Speed Racer. 

(Which means Speed Racer the Next Generation is also in this universe, show still sucks but now robot monkeys are a thing in the same universe as the Gorillaz. Neat i guess?)

Space Ghost adds in Johnny Bravo. In one episode Black Widow went on a date with Johnny. 

Back to Barbera cartoons as a whole, the Blue Falcon connects Dexter to all of this. Which also means the Super Friends are canon through proxy which connects back to the Powerpuff Girls.

Speaking of lets go back to powerpuff girls. How do we connect Powerpuff Girls to another show? Simple, through that billboard you see people freaking out over all the time!

So now Samurai Jack is the canon future of Gorillaz, which means if Murdoc’s claims of being immortal are true, he n jack could meet, thats pre cool.

Back again to Barbera cartoons, Fred Flinstone connects to Billy and Mandy

which then connects to Kids Next Door and Ed Edd and Eddy through that cross over special my mom wouldn’t let me watch at the time because she thought Billy And Mandy was satanic or something idk
