In order to finally defeat Mina and her Solarian warriors once and for all, Star makes the difficult decision in destroying all magic and could bring peace to Mewni but could also have some consequences. The Series Finale of Star vs The Forces of Evil, “Cleaved”, premiered on this day, 4 Years Ago.
When I first watched the finale, I was initially confused as to why 1. Eclipsa’s butterfly wings were so simplistic and 2. why Meteora’s wings are a completely different color than her teenage wings. Then I realized something-
Moon’s wings are extravagant and detailed because she’s mastered her butterfly form. She has disciplined control over her magic and it shows.
The same goes for teenage Meteora, she may not have as much control over her butterfly form than moon but she’s most likely more experienced than Star in this timeline. Her wings are hyper detailed and a completely different color than her baby form (probably due to mewberty) also her baby form’s wings are extremely simple. They’re a bit more detailed than Star’s but I’m assuming that’s because she learned how to dip down and control magic at such a young age.
Now we have Star, who is still relatively new to controlling the magical power of her butterfly form (example: her angry outburst towards Moon/her first fight with Meteora) This is shown by how simplistic her wings are
Then we get to Eclipsa, who’s canonically never dipped down and assumed her butterfly form until the finale. Her wings are almost exactly identical to Star’s in their simplistic appearance due to the unfamiliarity and newness of the magic.
Based on all this, I’m guessing everyone in the butterfly family starts with simplistic wings when they first dip down. However, as time goes on and they learn how to control it, their wings slowly change in appearance. Just a little detail i thought was really cool :D
