The way these girls designed their bedrooms
Sarah’s Bedroom in LABYRINTH (1986) dir. by Jim Henson
Sarah’s room is filled with a number of items feeding her imagination. She owns several fantasy books, including The Wizard of Oz, Snow White, Where the Wild Things Are, Alice in Wonderland, and Grimm’s Fairy Tales, as well the games Judge Dredd, Dungeons & Dragons, Ludo, and a maze game resembling a labyrinth. There are dolls that look quite a bit like Ludo, Sir Didymus, and one of the Fireys. Other decorations include a bookend that looks like Hoggle, and a statuette of Jareth. M. C. Escher’s lithograph Relativity hangs on her wall along with posters for various musicals, including Cats and Evita. She also owns a collection of bears, her favorite of which is named Lancelot.
Everything Sarah encounters in the labyrinth is found in her room like the slashing machine and Escher stairs, a Bluto and Sir Bidimous, etc.
Also, the man in the photos on her mirror is Bowie - it’s explored really well in the novel - he’s an actor, and he and her mum have a close relationship, and Sarah idolises him, sees him as the epitome of grown-up-ness.
What is your vision of what Abigail’s room looked like? Both past and present?
(Images found on Pintrest)
As a kid something like this:
As an adult:
She has always liked colours and the room to feel more occupied.
What kind of place does Abigail live in? What are the houses like in Abigail’s world?
Zootopia like. So there are areas that cater to certain heights and environment needs. Abigail is human sized so she lives in a humanesque apartment. I imagine it looking something like this picture I found on Pintrest:
Ari Jin's adorable bedroom in Flowering Heart. ^^

I FINALLY KNOW WHAT THIS DECOR IS CALLED, IVE BEEN SEARCHING FOR YEARS : WHIMSIGOTHIC.
That 90s celestial, gothic decor???
Give it to me right now
So, 90′s? That’s funny.
I own this shawl and cushion since the late 90′s-early 2000, guess they’re whimsigothic?
That’s not all I have. I had a wooden box and a metallic box lid. Despite it’s just a lid, the latter look still good. But the wooden box look over worn today.
And a fifth one!
Except I’ve repainted my incense holder myself.
It’s a “Merlin lamp”, without painting. If it’s whimsigothic, it’s by accident.
my fav 2000s teen movie trope: the girls gossiping on the phone in their well-decorated bedrooms, that’s an exact visual of their personality. ♥
The extravagant “Moon Bed”. Made in 1876 as a gift to the West, the bed is a stunning example of Chinese carving, decorative illustration, and joinery. No fasteners or glue were used in its original construction.
